Spin-off: Black Dress for European Wedding?
Sooo as a spin-off from the other post, I'll be attending a wedding in Ireland in July and have been searching high and low for a dress to no avail. Traditionally, it's in bad form to wear black to an Irish wedding. I was wondering if this is still true? MIL said it is, but not as much and that I could probably get away with it because I'm American. But hey, I'd rather not be that stupid American who looks like she's going to a funeral! Has anybody been to any European weddings recently? Any idea if this is still the case?
I did a quick look back at my wedding photos and not a single person from Ireland/London wore black.

They did tell me, several times. My BMs were in black so there were a few comments.
I have one coral dress that could work, if not I'm wearing black and they'll like it.
Maybe if I dress it up with feathers in my hair or a brightly colored clutch?

Hmmm that makes me feel a little bit better. I wanna wear this dress but in black because the red would clash with my hair.

And ooooh I like the gloves idea!
