At what point do you pay the down payment?
At point do you pay the down payment, attorney fees, etc? Is it different for a short sale? Can you please break that all down for me?

Our downpayment was 10%. We gave 4% when we signed the contract and the other 6% at closing. Attny fees were also split; half at signing, the rest at closing.

We paid the atty's fee at closing.

We put down $20K at contract siging and $70K at closing for a total down payment of $90K.

we put $5k down when we signed the initial contract. The rest of the 20% we put down and the lawyers fees etc were all paid at closing.

I think we paid 4% at contract signing and the remaining amount was at closing (total of 25%)

We paid half at contract and the rest at closing. We paid our attorney separate after the closing.

I am surprised that some people put down their whole down payment upon signing the contract. Most attorneys won't let you do that! Usually you split it up and pay at least some portion at closing.

I NEVER put down all the money at contract.. I always put down the bear minimum

We are making a 20% downpayment: 10% at contract signing and the other 10% will be at closing. We've been paying things along the way - paid for the appraisal the other day, will pay for homeowners insurance...and the other fees we'll pay at closing.
