TOTALLY normal Chat Icon I was completely paranoid for the entire 1st tri but I swear it got alot better once I hit 14 weeks or so. I even stopped checking the TP every time I went to the bathroom.

Re: Is it normal to fear the worse during the first trimester?

Thank you for this thread!!

I am 5 wks too and a nervous wreck all the time. I expect the worst and feel like it is inevitable the pregnancy will end....I almost wish it would just happen already so I can move on again like with the chemical (I feel like a horrible person for feeling this way - please don't judge me).

Yesterday my boobs were SO sore I couldn't even let the sheets on my bed touch them. Today they are not nearly as sore and so in the back of my mind I assume I will probably start bleeding today because something must be wrong.Chat Icon

Yes! All I do is worry all day long. Checking the TP, analyzing every twinge or pain... I just want to be excited and enjoy it!

I didn't start to feel remotely less nervous until my 20 week appointment, and I barely told anyone before 16-20 weeks. Still was nervous b/c my coworker had a m/c at 21 weeks. Only started feeling much better recently after my 28w appt when my doctor said well to put you at ease, chances are you could have the baby now and he would be okay.

Totally normal. Every time I peed I would be so scared to check the TP, every pain I questioned.... Hang in there!!! Chat Icon

Honestly, you never stop worrying. There are so many things. And by never stop, I mean ever, once they are born there are a whole new slew of things.

But, it does get easier and you enjoy more than you worry. It is totally natural to worry, so spend a few minutes worrying and then move onto all the good things and refocus. Good Luck Chat Icon

This is exactly it. Unfortunately the fear never really goes away. I was scared until the day I gave birth. Now it's a new set of fears. You never really stop worrying. But the key is not letting it consume you. What helped me is all the big milestones during your pregnancy- hearing the first heartbeat, 12 week appointment, NT scan, 20 week appointment, etc. After each appointment you will find a way to relax. It does get easier!

Yes! Its just natural to worry about worst case scenerio when you are nervous about something. I am 11w3d and still worry constantly about this.

I hate to tell you this, but you will probably still worry throughout the pregnancy! Chat Icon . I think I finally felt better when I reached the 20 something week mark where I read that the baby had a good chance of surviving if I went into early labor.

Re: Is it normal to fear the worse during the first trimester?

Yup completely. I still get periods of being nervous and I'm 15 weeks now. I'm sure I'll have that for the rest of the pg. In the beginning I was almost afraid to pee cause I was worried I'd see blood when I wiped. I had a dr appt last week and I was concerned there would be no hb on the doppler. Try not to freak yourself out too much. Enjoy this time (especially if the morning sickness hasn't hit yet Chat Icon ) It will all be ok! Chat Icon
