My MFM said to keep taking it for now. Said it couldn't hurt to keep taking it.

Re: If you are over 12 weeks, and still on metformin....
I stoped taking metformin around 14-15 weeks....My dr said it was ok to keep taking them...and honestly that was not a good enogh answer for me.....i didnt get enough of a reason.....and I was unhappy with my dr to begin with...soooo
I switched drs and my new dr sent me to a perninatal dr, who was soo wonderful and explained all of the pros and cons....and told me that there is NOT enough info stating that it is safe to take it....
So off i went.....failed the 1 hr....but not by much so now i have to take the 3 hr....but i am happier that i am in more control and I am not taking meds that my drs are unsure of.
If you have any other questions...feel free to FM me :)

anyone else?
i heard"could not hurt" reasoning, but my ob yesterday told me that it is not good enough to be on it ( i somewhat agree), so i was wondering if anyone got a clearer explanation.

Re: If you are over 12 weeks, and still on metformin....
sorry, my ob took me off of it at 12 weeks.
Dr. B said he feels like it lowers the risk of gestational diabetes and recommended I stay on it the whole time, but my OB didn't feel comfortable with that.
