Splenda
How bad is Splenda during pregnancy? I mean, I know that generally artificial sweeteners are no good for anyone but how bad is it if you are pregnant?

i don't use splenda regardless BUT i was reading "what to expect" just the other night and they mention it in the "pregnancy diet" chapter. i think they say something like it's thought to be safe during pregnancy.

Yes, this is what I thought too but wanted confirmation. I think its one of the "better" artificial sweeteners. I dont plan to use it all the time but occasionally I like to have it. Thanks for the response.

My doctor said Splenda was the only artificial sweetner that was ok, but to use in moderation. I don't use it, but he def. specifically mentioned it was ok to have.

As an all natural alternative, I use Stevia in the Raw. It's sometimes tough to find, but I've come to like it more than Splenda - and I was a huge Splenda addict.
To your original question though, my OB says Splenda is fine. I just went with Stevia because DH was uncomfortable with the chemicals of Splenda.

same thing my doctor said, i use it here and there not everyday though.

My OB ok'd Splenda but said he would prefer if I just used real sugar in moderation. I do use a packet of splenda per day in my cup of tea and did so also when I was pregnant with DD.
