Did you register for...

bottle sterilizers? If so, which one? Are they needed? I read mixed things on this.

Humidifier? If so, which is better cool mist or steam?

Thanks as always for all of your help!!!

Re: Did you register for...

i registered for the Dr. Browns Sterilizer that goes in the microwave since i dont have a dishwasher (you can sterlize in the dishwasher if you have).

i already have a humidifier so i didnt register for one. i think mine is a cool mist. from what i hear, its cheaper to get the humidifier somewhere else other than BRU or BBB since they make cutesey ones that are more money. if you want a plain one it may be cheaper elsewhere like target or walmart

Cool mist I heard is the best. We registered for the cute frog. As for the bottle sterilizer I have read mixed things too. We put the avent one on our registry but I am contemplating taking it off. It looks big and it's going to take up a lot of room and I am not sure if it's worth it. My friend has one and loves it but I am just not sure. I'd love to hear other peoples thoughts on this as well.

I also should add that my Consumer Reports book says not to use a sterilizer or bottle warmer because of BPA leaching. I guess the plastic from the sterilizer or warmer could possibly leach to bottles at a certain temperature. We didn't register for the warmer because of consumer reports but still contemplating on the sterilizer. I worry about all these things.

Re: Did you register for...

With my first pregnancy, we registered for the Born Free sterilizer (bc we were planning to use Born Free bottles), which are BPA, PVC, and pthalate free. We used it and it worked great. It's a microwave sterilizer. I believe most are BPA free now, but I would definitely check before deciding on one.

We registered for and use the Crane Cool Mist frog humidifier and LOVE it! I also have always heard that cool mist is better.

Re: Did you register for...

we got a cool mist humidifier, i heard that you shouldn't have warm...we got the sharper image one at BBB and love it...we've been using it already, its super quiet and puts a lot of moisture in the air.

I didn't register for a bottle sterilizer.

I registered for a cool mist humidifier because from what I've heard/read, the warm mist makes the room uncomfortable.

My dishwasher has a sterilizer setting on it that we use. That was pretty much good enough for me.
