We stayed at Catalonia Royal Tulum in the Riviera Maya and loved it. Not sure about the place you mentioned but if the people on trip advisor give it mostly good reviews that I am sure you will be ok.

I just got back from 5 days here.
I had booked based only on price and reviews that I read everywhere.
We had a total of 4 people traveling and 2 rooms.
We were very pleased. The beaches were clean and well maintained. One of the pools was a little dirty, but the rest were clean. The place is huge and they do have bus service between the different hotels. We did an excursiion one day but could have lived without it and never left the resort. We did upgrade our room when we got there and it was worth it for the food options for us.
The room was clean and well kept. Nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible either. We were on the first floor in a premium rooom, so we had a balcony for easy walk out access to the pools and beach. Plenty of bars and restaurants around the place to stop and grab a bite to eat.
Overall we were happy and I would have no reservatilons telling anyone to stay there.
