NYC DOE employees

After reading that thread from earlier in the week, I want to call my insurance company and get pre-approval from my hospital stay and see how much my final bill will be (especially since I am having triplets and will be having a C-Section). So my question is do you guys call both empire blue cross and GHI or just empire blue cross? I know Empire is our hospital insurance...but I was uncertain if I need to get approval from GHI for the doctors??

TIA

Call the number on the back of the blue cross card but you really don't need to..the hospital deals with it..I just had a csection and all was fine

Re: NYC DOE employees

DH has GHI/Empire (NYCDOE employee). I called to let them know I was pregnant, my ob recommended this. They said they didn't need to know until I was admitted to the hospital.
