I tried the Instyler and hated it. I have never tried the CHI, but have heard great things about it. I paid about $90 for mine (Solia), so I would say that's a fair price.

I used to have a chi and loved it, I had it for like 5 years and then it just wore out. I was going to buy another one but my hair dresser who originally recommended the chi said the quality isnt what it used to be. She recommended an Ion flat iron which you can get at Sally, I think I paid $70 for mine. I really like it, just as much if not better than my chi.
I have also tried the instyler (my mom has one) and I did not like it at all, did nothing for my hair and made it more frizzy if anything.
