Atlantic City?
What is a fun (not so geriatric) hotel on the boardwork that I can go for DH's bday?

Re: Atlantic City?
Borgata and harrah's are the nicest places to stay. Both are not on the boardwalk. The boardwalk is super seedy. I would not venture out at night.
Borgata has fantastic restaurants. Bobby Flay's, wolfgang puck's, old homestead and an awesome sushi spot. They also have a kick *** spa.
Harrrah's has a beautiful adult pool, nice rooms but not too many restaurants.
Tropicana and Showboat are okay options. Tropicana has a small shopping restaurant area that is fun. They have a lot of chain restaurant options. Carmines, PF changs and cuban libre(I hate chains!).
Showboat has the house of blues/mardi gras theme. That is fun.
Hope that helps. Have fun!

Re: Atlantic City?
We stayed at the borgata for NYE weekend. We had a nice suite, the spa there is really nice-on par with red door. There is a nice indoor pool, not sure about outdoor because it was freezing outside. We went to the NYE party which was a lot of fun and we saw Carrie underwood the next night. It seems like they have a lot of shows there. There are a few good bars and clubs in borgata too. The restaurants are all so good and there are so many.

Re: Atlantic City?
The boardwalk itself isn't as bad as it used to be. They did a pretty good job of cleaning it up. Sure, I wouldn't walk out there alone, but with hubby and others around it's not bad. This is also speaking from the middle of winter with no one there, I'm sure in the summer people are out there until the mid AM hours.

Re: Atlantic City?
The Tropicana is great, with lots of stuff to do.
BUT if you don't have to have a casino right in the hotel... check out The Chelsea. DH and I stayed there last june, and it was great! its right on the boardwalk, but kind of near the end of it... so its a little bit quieter. super cool/modern "vibe". definitely recommend! http://thechelsea-ac.com/index.php

Re: Atlantic City?
I've stayed at both the Borgata and the Tropicana.
The Borgata is probably "nicer" but I think the Tropicana is definitely more fun. Plus, it has the Palm Restaurant - which DH and I love!

The tropicana it is.. hope DH will be surprised.. he knows we are going somewhere but not sure where.. we spent his 30th bday in AC so it's sort of full circle now that he is turning 40- yikes.
