Venice,Florida

Does anyone have any feedback for that area, it is on our list of potential areas after DH retires in a few years. DD will still be in school, but private school will be an option

Re: Venice,Florida

Venice is not really family friendly, its almost all retirees unless it has changed in the past few years. If your kids/tweens/teens are seen walking down the street, yes just walking, I guarantee they they will get stopped by the cops because they will be assumed to be up to no good. Happened to relatives of mine when they were visiting grandparents in Venice.

I would choose another neighborhood unless there are other parts of Venice that are more family friendly?

Re: Venice,Florida

I think it has become more family friendly esp Sarasota. There where a lot of young families living in her development.

Sarasota was always family friendly. Keep in mind Sarasota is NOT Venice. Sarasota itself is very big, some parts very nice other parts downright dangerous and it's not as easy to tell the difference unless you go down there and check it out. I have family in Sarasota, Bradenton and my grandparents used to live in Venice. I know that the community of Lakewood Ranch is very nice and family friendly.
