How did you choose your attorney?
We are looking for an attorney for a house we are purchasing. We have the inspection report and are looking to go into contract. I have a few names given to me by people who have bought homes and from our REA - but not sure how to choose which one. Are there any 'interview' questions I can ask to determine who would be best? TIA!

Ours was recommended by our RA and our Mortgage Broker.
You should ask them who they like dealing with.

Ours was referred to us by our RE agent. I called her, she was familiar with my agent and my mortgage office. She gave us some helpful tips like checking the sex offender list and calliing the town to confirm the RE taxes. I felt comfortable with her. She was knowledgeable, available, and affordable.

We used the same Attorney to sell our Apartment, and now buying our home.
He was recommended by family who recently used him. ( as well he has a good reputation in the area. I was always hesitant to us the Attorney's recommended by the realtor...I rather hear from a friend/family who used them.

i used one of my co-workers, she does a TON of closings and for a lot of employees as well.

Thanks for all the responses! I see most of you chose your attorney's based on referral of some sort. We'll likely be choosing between the one our REA suggested and one my SIL/BIL used. Since they are essentially offering/doing the same thing, we'll likely go by better cost. What is normal re: the legal fee?

We are going to use Wendi from here, as per recommendations (and alot of them) she is awesome, she even impressed DH which isn't easy to do!!!

I went with the one my REA suggested. He was kind of a doofus. I'm annoyed that I didn't get a recommendation from a friend or even from here on LIF.

We used her as all... very knowledgeable and doesnt take anyone's crap! She charged us 1k

DH went to a seminar at our bank about home buying and our attorney made a presentation so he went with him. Worked out well.
