Bethpage FCU
Has anyone worked with/used Bethpage Financial Credit Union? A few people have recommended them for a mortgage - just wondering about any positive or negative experiences.

Re: Bethpage FCU
We did both our initial mortgage and refinance with them. The loan officers were very responsive-always answered our emails promptly. They had the best rates for our situation and some of the lowest fees at that time. The only issue we ran into during the refinance was the processing company that they sub out the forms to forgot to send our tax payment to the county. One call to the bank and they fixed it and paid the penalty. We have been very happy with them. Good Luck!

Re: Bethpage FCU
yes we used them. best rate out there. i dealt directly with the loan officer and while I found her to be lacking in responsiveness sometimes, i came to understand that i'm not the only person she was dealing with and she had a ton of other files going on. i was a little impatient lol. they've been great, and closing was seamless.

Re: Bethpage FCU
Thank you both! We've heard nothing but good things so far so it sounds like a good choice.

Re: Bethpage FCU
from what I have heard they don't have enough people working there to get all the loans done
same with teachers

Re: Bethpage FCU
We have used them 3 times. For our first house (2004) it was alittle crazy and hard to get a hold of people...but it was a crazy high period where mortgages were being written like crazy. Second house (2006) nothing bad to say at all Refinance (2009) again nothing but good experience here.

Re: Bethpage FCU
We are in the process of getting our mortgage from them right now (actually just got cleared to close!) and it's been nothing but a positive experience. Everyone we've spoken with has been nice and helpful and response time has been pretty quick.
One thing to be aware of is that both you and your dh (if the mortgage will be in both your names) will need to have an account there, or at least a joint account. My DH didn't have one, and our joint account is at a different bank, so we had to add him to mine and that slowed us down slightly.

We used then for a home equity line of credit & had no issues at all. I have my accounts with them & love them. My family has their mortages & HELC with them.

Re: Bethpage FCU
Buyers who bought one of my listings last fall used Bethpage FCU, and it was a smooth and quick deal. No issues. I've heard other agents say good things about Bethpage credit union, too.
A recent buyer of mine used NEFCU (teachers' credit union), though, and had a frustrating experience. They were very slow to process the mortgage, repeatedly asked for documentation that had already been provided, weren't very communicative, etc.

Re: Bethpage FCU
I had a TON of issues with them. when I switched banks, I closed in less then 60 days, so clearly I wasn't the issue the bank was
they don't have enough people working for them and the ones they do, don't know the rules and laws and screw everything up

Re: Bethpage FCU
We used BFCU for our initial mortgage and our refinance. No issues whatsoever and we closed both times within estimated time frame. We've had nothing but great experiences with them.

Re: Bethpage FCU
Thank you all so much - so glad to hear there are so many good experiences. I'm sorry for the few that had any trouble! I guess with so many loans processed they can't be good 100% of the time. I'll take a 75/25 ratio, though

Re: Bethpage FCU
We are using them. They were recommended because they have low closing fees. I feel sometimes they are a little slow to call back but they've been working for us.
