Is there a "right" time of the day to plant?
When my flats come in from our school's plant sale next week, I'm going to be busy planting. IDK why, but I ordered 8 flats. (that's totally besides the pint, though )
Our weekends are booked solid, leaving me no time to get them in the ground aside from after DS goes to sleep. I'm planning on planting from 7-8pm for a few nights until they're all in.
This may be ridiculous, but is there a specific time of day that's preferable to plant? I'm not going to mess up my flowers by planting them in the evening, am I?

I'd say anytime is fine, but you should consider when to water. I wouldn't water newly-planted flowers at night, because they'll be sitting in a puddle until they get sun the next day.
I hope you have a big flashlight.

Thanks for the watering tip! I was hoping you'd weigh in on this!
And yeah, I'll be doing it for a few nights until they're all in. Want to come over rand help? What the heck was I thinking with 8 frickin flats?

Water the ground very well so it won't $uck the water out of your plants when you plant them. You don't want to water your plants at night but if the ground is saturated it will help (no standing water though).

Re: Is there a "right" time of the day to plant?
I can totally relate on overbuying. Every year, I buy about 100 plants from the same place and after they arrive, it takes me weeks to plant them all!
I know it's not likely, but can you protect them in case we get a frost in the next couple of weeks? It happened last year.

Good tip!
