eiffel tower- UPDATE- im back!

We tried to buy tickets online last night and they were sold out the entire week we will be there!! Anyone know the best day of the week or best time of day to go so that we don;t have to wait on a huge line?

update
We are back from Paris and Brugge belgium- both were amazing. In case anyone had the same question as me, we went early Wednesday morning, about 45 minutes before it opened. There was already a huge line. We waited about 2 hours on the line then it took another hour to get up all the platforms and down again. I went during holy week so obv there were more tourists there than on a regular week. Also, we were passing by around 8:30pm one evening and there was no line!

Re: eiffel tower

I went 15 years ago, but there was absolutely no line at night when we went. We took the elevator up and walked down (seemed like we were the only ones on it). By the way, take the elevator down, the stairs make your eyes go crazy and you feel like you're going to fall.

Re: eiffel tower

I have NEVER heard of the Eiffel tower sold out. You can buy tickets there.

To see views of Paris: go during the day.

Right before it gets dark go to the Trocadero plaza. You will have the best view of the Eiffel tower. You will see the lights go on on the tower. It's cool!

Right by the Eiffel tower there is a Bridge (the Iena bridge). On the South side (towards the tower), there is a tour boat. It takes you for a tour on the river and comes back. The tour in in multiple languages and it's tell you about the buildings and some history. It's a great way to see Notre Dame and great pics.

Maybe just advanced sales are sold out? I can't imagine that they don't have walk-up sales (they did 2 years ago when I was there).

Yes, just the online tickets are sold out. We'd like to know the best time to go to avoid a long line.

And thanks for the advice we will definitely do this!

Re: eiffel tower

It will busy ALL day. Paris is full of tourist all the time.

Mornings are probably the least crowded times.

Re: eiffel tower

We went last September and the lines to purchase tickets were obscene. We bought them online. Maybe the time you were looking for is sold out? If I remember correctly we had to buy for the specific lift time we wanted.

Re: eiffel tower

I went in July 08. I had bought tickets there. We got on line at about 7, got into the elevator about 830, and with the lines on the first level, got to the top about 1030. It's very pretty at night, but if you really want to see, I'd try the early morning.

Have your concierge make a reservation at Jules Verne for lunch. You get to go up to the restaurant in their exclusive elevator, no line Chat Icon

Re: eiffel tower

We waited on line and bought tickets on the spot. No issues. Just be careful because the line can be long and they stop letting people up once it gets too late. I would recommend going at night because it lights up and sparkles every 15 or so minutes.

If you want the beautiful views of Paris I would actually rec the view from the top of the Arc de Triumph during the daytime (which will include a view of the Eiffel Tower). Not instead of the Eiffel but in addition to.

Other beautiful views:

From top of Sacre Coeur, Most department stores have a roof top for panoramic view too.
