BTDT - contractions
Where do you feel them?
are they straight across the bottom of your belly like period cramps or are they like whole belly things like braxton hicks?
People always say you'll know them when they start but i have had friends who think they have gas and its contractions and then they are rushing to the hospital...

Re: BTDT - contractions
I was actually quite surprised that when I was in L&D and had them, they were high up, like just above my belly button. If I wasn't on the monitor at the hospital I never would have thought they were contractions at all!! My doctor said, well your uterus is all the way up there now, you can feel them anywhere it is!

Re: BTDT - contractions
with dd I had all back labor. So I just knew it was contractions, b/c I'd get intense lower back pain every few minutes. With ds, I was enduced and when the pit. started, I thought I was having indigestion. I really thought I was going to have back labor again. Once the contractions got intense, they were high up. A few inches from my belly button. I felt like I was being squeezed by a boa constrictor.

Re: BTDT - contractions
When I was in pre-term labor last week I felt my belly tensing up night up like right under my rib cage in the center. I had NO IDEA that i was having contractions. I thought they were Braxton Hicks. Apparently I was wrong and those were full blown contractions that made me dilate and efface. My docs were shocked when they were looking at the numbers on my monitors and saw me laughing or talking while having a contraction. Dont get me wrong it was a bit uncomfy but no pain what so ever. I kinda hope that when real labor kicks in again its the same way. LOL

Re: BTDT - contractions
Mine felt like a horrible horrible backache at first. It was so bad, I took two tylenols (and I barely took anything the entire pregnancy other than tums).
As I got further along in the labor process, they felt like really bad cramps and were pretty low down. Definitely way lower than my BH contractions.

Re: BTDT - contractions
mine were low and felt like the worse mentral cramps everrrrr. BH for me were higher up, the real ones were low and so much worse. You can't focus on anything else when one hits....
