Re: stressful easter weekend
Ugh, I'm so sorry. I think a lot of people have trouble realizing that a baby is not about the FAMILY, it's about the mom and the dad. I have people in my family who are trying to make it all about themselves, too.
Hang in there ... I know it's rough right now but soon when you tell everyone and it's out in the open, things will get easier.
When is your NT scan??? Exciting!

Re: stressful easter weekend
Im sorry that really stinks...I dont know why family is like that. I also feel like our decision to wait to tell people was completely disregarded. We told our parents, siblings, and grandparents, and specifically asked them not to tell anyone. I think literally after i got off of the phone with my grandma she told someone. When i asked her why she just ignored the fact that i stressed not telling anyone, she just said "Its not a big deal Jen, everyone is going to know." Now i have cousins in california sending me FB messages asking me if the rumors are true! I wanted to tell people!
It sucks that other people get to experience the excitement of telling someone YOUR great news!!

I totally agree and I can identify with this! When some close family members found out we had our first sono, they immediately called and asked how it went. I want to hold off on announcing we're having triplets so I could really surprise everyone. I also realize it's very soon. Anyway I told them we saw a heartbeat. They asked how many we saw. I said it's too soon to tell but we saw a heartbeat and we're really excited. Their next reaction........... "Ohhhhhhh too soon to tell??? I bet it's twins but you don't want to say anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Umm... obviously you know there's news I'm not ready to share yet so why say anything at all? Just say congrats and move on and when I'm ready to share, I will I found it extremely selfish.

Re: stressful easter weekend
I'm sorry you have to deal with that. People just don't understand, sometimes it's because they are excited, sometimes it's because they just can't think outside themselves. Hopefully they will continue to respect your wishes and privacy.

Re: stressful easter weekend
I’ve learned with my nosy, big mouth, and opinionated family is not to tell them anything until DH and I are READY for everyone else to hear about it. Especially when it comes to kids. I know they have the best intentions but they can’t keep their traps shut. So to avoid all the stress they give me I just don’t tell them anything until I’m ready for the world to hear about it. Take it from another preggo dealing with IL drama, DON’T deal with it at all. If you have to leave the situation then leave. DH and I have fought about their drama numerous times. I would break out on my face and get heart palpitations because of it. But now, I don’t even ask about what happens in that household. Hugs to you hon. I know it isn’t easy.

Yikes! I'm so sorry. If I were you I would try to avoid those people as much as you can for the rest of your pregnancy. You don't need the stress.
Good luck with your NT scan.

Re: stressful easter weekend
O geeze... this could have been a page off my weekend madness.. my MIL gave me such a huge guilt trip for not saying anything to BIL and wife.. we didn't want to, because our NT scan (like yours, is tomorrow) and MIL just assumed that since we were almost 12 weeks, we should do it. I squashed that right away.. I was like we are not 12 weeks.. so leave it alone. She huffed and puffed and left us alone..
I know its frustrating.. but stick to your guns, and announce when you are ready..
