Artificial Sweetener
I consume a lot of artificial sweetener, or at least I did pre becoming preggers, i.e. splenda in my coffee, diet sodas and teas, I even noticed that the lo fat yogurts and fruit juices that I used to drink contain splenda or some sort of artifical sweetener.
I'm trying to cut down or eliminate it all together but its been difficult. My doctor's office suggested that it's not great but didnt say I should cut it out completey. Wondering what you girls have done.

Re: Artificial Sweetener
My dr said splenda and nutrasweet are fine. Sweet n low is a no no. I stay away from equal also.
I use splenda here or there and have a cple diet sodas a week. I cut back a lot but do use in moderation.

Re: Artificial Sweetener
Pre-PG, I used a ton of Splenda. I now exclusively use Stevia in the Raw. Tastes great, and is chemical free.

I try to use sugar instead, but I've had a few equals this pregnancy, and I still drink diet coke.

Re: Artificial Sweetener
I have eliminated it completely. I wanted to do this before getting pregnant but could never motivate, so I used being preggers as the excuse

I cut it out with the exception of 1 or 2 sodas the entire pregnancy...you never know.

Re: Artificial Sweetener
Haven't touched the stuff in years. I get terrible stomachaches and headaches from Nutra-Sweet. And before I figured out that it was Nutra-Sweet causing the problems, and I was drinking 2 cans of Diet Coke a day, I was having neurological symptoms - numbness in my hands and feet - and my doc was running a battery of tests for MS.
Anything that can do that to an adult, I don't want anywhere NEAR a baby.

Re: Artificial Sweetener
I used to use Sweet n Low in everything, but now I gave it up for the pregnancy - and maybe for life!
I've now gotten used to unsweetened iced tea with nothing in it.
At Dunkin Donuts, I'll do a mocha swirl latte, which has chocolate syrup, so no sweetener necessary.
And on the rare occasion I have soda, I switched to regular.
I've always heard artificial sweeteners were not good and can actually make you GAIN weight. And I also found I got headaches from using too much. I actually went on migraine medication for awhile before realizing it was from the fake stuff!

Re: Artificial Sweetener
I do not use them at all and I didn't before pregnancy either
I was shocked to see how many people do though while pregnant on that other thread about what you drink.
truvia was banned by the FDA until 2007 because of really high cancer rates. the brand claims to have revamped it to be lower, but in lab results they were still way above what one would expect.
