Anyone work at a bank that would maybe know the answer to this ...
I purchased something at best buy on 12/15/10 using my debit card (put in my pin; did not go thru as credit). Has of today it still has not hit my account!!!?? At this point i dont know if it ever will. Whats the longest it takes for a debit charge to hit an account?
Is it safe to say it never will at this point?
Also i should say I used my best buy rewards card when purchasing; you can log on a site and see what you purchased every other purchase i have made shows how i paid; so if i paid cash it says cash, gift card it says gift card, credit it says credit etc.
For the purchase that has not hit my account it says vendor coupon  dont know why but it does i did not use any vendor coupons
Update - It still has not posted I am thinking at this point it wont. Would anyone agree?
I hate not having my checkbook balanced correctly!

wow.. I would say you got yourself a free purchase lol Debit purchases come out IMMEDIATELY for me.. I see it come out that same day.. credit purchases take up a week (at most) sometimes for me.

ditto... even if the money isnt technically taken out right away the purchase is still on my account and my balance is different but the charge says pending rather than having the date

Mines too. When I use my debit card as credit it may take a few extra days but debit shows immediately.
Once I went to Pathmark...they were having a problem with the systems...I had to swipe like 5x and it finally went through...got my receipt but it never hit my account.

see when i use my debit card it always hits my account right away also.
I should also say the week before that DH used the debit card as a credit though at his DR's office twice in one week and it took about 2 weeks for it to show up as even a hold on my account which i found wierd since it usually doesnt take that long. I figured the same thing was going on with the Best Buy purshcase but its been over a month already!!

I work for a bank. It could still post. I've seen transactions post 2 months later when records are updated/errors located.
Do you have a receipt showing the transaction being applied to your card? I would hope that if they find the error later and plan to charge you, that they would send you a courtesy notice.

This has happened to me, I went to the store like 3 months later and the manager said that could never happen. Was not helpful at all, so I left and 8 months later still not deducted out of my acct. It was for about 80 bucks.
I am just letting it sit there in case they ever find the error.
