I use my credit card [. . .], but I never carry a balance. It all gets paid off when the bill comes in.
This. I use my debit for just about everything else - I rarely have cash on me.
The only purchase we save for is a vacation - we have a 'vacation account' - everything else just comes out of our savings. We don't buy anything unless we have to cash for it.

Re: Be honest
I buy everything on credit card for points whether it is a splurge item or a $3 soup for lunch. I always pay off my bill in full.
I don't buy luxury splurges unless I can afford to pay it off in full and have enough of a buffer where the purchase won't "hurt." we have a set amount of money set aside in our budget each month for clothing/accessories and sometimes I go over and most months I go under, but I'd only "save up" in that respect (holding off on other shopping-category purchases if I plan on going over the monthly allotment). Then again, I rarely make big splurges anyway and we always have more than enough to pay for it in savings/other liquid funds

I use my Am Ex for everything and then pay it all off when the bill comes, I never carry a balance. I use my Am Ex card so a.) I don't have to carry all that cash around with me, and b.) I earn points for cash back

Re: Be honest
I always use my CC for the points/rewards
But I go home and literally pay it off in full within a day or two - because I am crazy and can't stand having a big balance.
I don't really "budget" for stuff, but I'll avoid buying something $$$ in a month where we have a big car repair or something, for exampe.

Re: Be honest
We don't own any credit cards - so it's all cash that we saved up. Or gift money.

Debit or cash. I only use credit cards to book airfare, hotels or other travel related things.

Everything goes on the CC only b/c its easiest to carry around. We always pay the bill in full every month. Money comes out of every day funds.

I use my credit card for almost everything, but I never carry a balance. It all gets paid off when the bill comes in.
I rarely have a lot of cash on me, and I only use my debit at the ATM. Plus I like the benefits my CC provides and the miles/points.

Re: Be honest
ever since my husband got laid off 2 years ago, we don't really buy high end things anymore (we still don't now that he is working again). but before then and especially before we bought our house, we spent a good amount of money on clothes, jewelry and watches. we almost always used the AmEx and paid for it in full out of my husband's commission checks (he's in sales and his commission checks were like mad money for us). occassionally we would do the 12 month interest free cc. if we knew one month his commission was going to be a lot less, we didn't buy anything that month.
now, we save up for everything. i really want to get a Miele vacuum cleaner and i am getting it with DH's bonus check in 2 months. my DH treats himself (not luxury but hobby related) using extra money he earns doing a side job.

Re: Be honest
I will usually take advantage of a no-interest option that the stores do. This is what we did when we bought our furniture from raymour & flanigan and appliances from pc richards. When we bought our living room furniture we debited it because they didn't have a no interest option at that time. I don't like to charge huge amounts on my regular credit cards beause of the interest, its so hard to pay it off...

I charge everything - BUT all my cc bills are paid in full each month. I never carry a balance.
Before I make a big $$ purchase, I always look at my accounts and make sure I can swing it that month.
This is what we do too.
Same here. We don't buy anything that we can't afford to pay off that month.

I didn't realize you were talking about expensive handbags etc. I don't buy that kind of stuff unless I have birthday or Christmas money. I would feel too guilty otherwise. Everyday purchases I tend to use the debit card moreso than cash. The credit cards on lockdown around here

Oh yeah, big ticket purchases like designer bags, shoes, watches..things that are considered luxury items. Not every day clothes and stuff.

I don't buy stuff like that ever--my most expensive bag was $180 and that was just from spending money. I 'd like to assume people who buy desinger bags charge them & have tons of debt, but I'm sure that's not awlays the case & people just have more spending money than I do.

Yes, I like to think that too. Sadly for me though there are a ton of folks who have that kind of cash to blow. Good for them. I'm envious.
