Moms of 8-10 months old- napping questions

How do you put DC down for a nap? My mom has watched DS everyday during the week since he was 5 mos and they got into a routine of reading a book in the rocking chair and then rocking a little bit. He is almost sleeping when she puts him in the crib. So when I'm home like this week or the weekend, he wants to do the same thing which is fine but he also thinks he needs to nurse at this time. Do I tell my mom to put him down in the crib awake and let him CIO? Do I not worry about it since it really only takes 15 mins start-finish? When I'm home do I not let him nurse at this time?

Re: Moms of 8-10 months old- napping questions

DD is 7.5 months but I'll share anyway in case it helps.

She eats every 3 hours and sleeps every 2 hours <She's a cat napper>. She will whine at that two hour mark and I can tell she's tired, so I go upstairs, pop her in the crib, give her a binky, turn on the sleep sheep and walk out. Sometimes she cries for a minute but most of the time she just passes out. I realize I may be lucky in this dept because she's such a good sleeper.. but I don't think a nap routine is necessary in general.. bedtime makes sense because I feel like it triggers them to think "oh ok, this is it for the day, time to sleep through the night" Chat Icon but naps should just be a nighty-night thing Chat Icon

DD is a little over 10 months. For naps she is rocked and soothed for like 2 minutes then put into crib awake but sleepy with her blankie. She is never nursed or has a bottle before naptimes.

Chase is 10 months old. For naps, he gets a book read to him while he's rocked, then we say night-night and stick him in the crib. Sometimes he cries for a few minutes, sometimes he goes right out. We leave him if he cries.
I would just do whatever works for the week since he's out of his routine.

DD is 8m old
My mom gives her a bottle and then puts her in the crib awake
She screams bloody murder for about 30 seconds and then passes out LOL

BUT for nighttime, she falls asleep drinking her last bottle - I walk with her upright for a few minutes and then put her in the crib. If she wakes up - she screams - and then passes out

DS #2 is 9 1/2 months old. When it's nap time, he goes in his sleep sack. That alone is enough for him to know it's naptime. Then the mobile goes on and he falls asleep without a problem. I also sing to him for a few minutes before I put him down. If we are out and there isn't a mobile, I do all of the above. If he cries, it's only for a few minutes and then he's out.

DD is 9.5 months. For naps, we go into her room, turn white noise on, change diaper if needed and put into sleepsack. I put her over my shoulder and pat her back and shush and bit, just rocking gently. I do this for about 5 minutes and then into the crib she goes. Her eyes are usually closed at this point though she is not sleeping. I never nurse before a nap.

I would not let him nurse, since that is not part of his regular routine. Can you read the book and then stand up and rock a bit instead of in the chair so he wont nurse? our moms routine seems to work fine, so I dont think I would change anything (no CIO).

I agree with this. DS was rocked to nap until recently. I am now trying to get him out of that habit. I lie him down in the crib and put on his rainforest and stay for a bit because he cries the second I walk out the door. Eventually I am going to put him down and not stay in the room but this has been working for now...

M and AM are so ridiculously similar!! I get that roar for 30 secs too and then it's like she thinks "oh yeah, I was the tired one, rolls over, and snores"

And nighttime it's the same too, though allt his talk about bottle rot is making me nervous.. I hate the idea of waking her to wipe her gums and tooth, but I also don't want her to have black rotten teeth!

Ds naps at 9 & 2 and usually eats breakfast and lunch about 30 mins before his nap. I put him in his sleepsack and then just put him down in his crib and he will fall asleep on his own in about 5-10 mins.

DS is 9.5 months. For naps I give DS his paci and lovey and put him in his crib awake. I turn on his projection mobile and leave the room. He is usually asleep within a few minutes. We do a similar routine at bedtime except he nurses before bed.

Dd is 8 months and still naps in her swing but she is a horrible sleeper. I put her in awake give her a blankies to hold and she falls asleep right away.
