Try a warm bath, always works for me. Not a hot one and only be in there for 10 minutes. The water loosens everything up.

I've had it for years. Before I got pregnant I ended up getting epidural injections to reduce the pain (i have 3 herniated discs and tried for years to deal with the pain and it just worsened). So I'm hoping these injections last through birth. I'll be in big trouble if they don't. Chat Icon

I am a big fan of using a foam roller to "roll" out the knots. Its painful the first couple of times when you start using it but eventually it feels really good. It really helps me. You can pick one up at target although I am sure you can find one for cheap online. Hope it helps!!

Re: psiatica pain....

I had that really bad this summer with out being pregnant. When I woke up I put an ice pack on my back (down my shorts) and after 1/2 hour it felt much better.

Re: psiatica pain....

I have been dealing with Sciatica pain for the past two weeks. Chat Icon Chat Icon I am 20 weeks today and it seems to be getting worst as time goes by. I noticed that sometimes the symptoms are aggravated by walking or bending at the waist. It makes me feel better when I lay down for an hour or so. My doctor says it will get worst Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon A hot compress helps me sometimes as well. I hope you feel better soon!

I have it terrribly too. Try hot showers (ok'd by my doc) and stretching. I find bending over the bed for a few minutes does help. Its awful!!!!

Re: psiatica pain....

thanks everyone!

so far the heat helps for a little bit, but not for long. i don't think it was this bad last time and it was more towards the end last time.

i hope i don't end up like my mom who when she had it with my older sister she was put in the hospital for 3 weeks in traction!Chat Icon

Re: psiatica pain....

I just replied to a post on here last night about sciatic pain--it must be getting the best of all of us preggers lately! I've had sciatica since 8 weeks (I'm 25 weeks now) and here's what's worked for me:
-Prenatal-friendly chiropractor
-Yoga poses like the Child's Pose morning and night or whenever there's tightness/shooting pain. It really opens things up and takes pressure off.
-Hot shower and let the water hit lower back for a while.
-Ice pack after a long day on your feet (really helps with inflammation.)
-Sleeping with a pillow between your legs--this one has been KEY for me!
-Maternity belt--I haven't used one yet myself, but plan of getting one soon. It supposedly relieves the pressure of baby and belly from sitting on the nerve.

I've used all of these things together constantly since week 12 or so (when I decided I needed to find relief lol) and it's all seemed to help a ton. I hope you're feeling better soon!
