Conv. Car seat behind passengers seat...
We put DS's conv seat in and bc DH is so tall we had to put it behind the passangers seat. The recline of the seat, if placed behind the drivers seat, wouldn't allow the seat to go back enough for DH. Ugh.... I'm going to be a nervous wreck driving with him like that.
Anyone else have their DC on the passangers side??

That's where ours is - our car manual states that the middle is not the safest place in the type of car we have.

My DD is behind the passenger seat in her convertable seat. She was also there in her infant seat. I had the infant seat installed by Nassau County safety and he wasn't able to put the infant seat in the middle of my truck, so he said the next place would by behind the passenger.

DD is still in her infant seat, but we were told to put her behind the passenger side because the driver's side is usually hit in a side-impact crash.

I do. And not cause my dh is a giant. I do it because zhoukd I need to give him anything, its much easier that way.

We can't do the middle. DD's convertible car seat is behind the passenger seat but before the baby comes, it will have to move behind the driver's seat because the infant seat pushes the seat forward and we can't do that on the driver's side so the infant seat will go behind the passenger.

that is where mine is....i was told to put it on that side in case you parallel park along a street, you dont want to have to take your child out in oncoming traffic.
plus its easier to give things to my daughter from that angle.

In DH's car, DS (2.5) is behind DH, and DD (11 months) is behind the passenger seat. Because DD's seat is backwards, if it were behind DH, he wouldn't be able to drive cause he's tall.

We have DS' seat on the passenger side also. Our Murano doesn't have a place to hook a seat up in te middle so that was the next logical place. I actually don't know anyone who has theirs behind the driver's side...

we had our first con seat in the middle, but we just got the one that's for kids over 40lbs + 2 weeks ago and it won't hook up in the middle so we had to put it behind the passenger seat .
I have notice that most cars I see with conv car seats have them behind the passenger seat.

I have a RF seat behind the passenger and driver in both of my vehicles (both DD's are still RF)
Once a child can hold his/her head up, they no longer need to be at a 45 degree angle, they can be as upright as 30 degrees.
As far as getting hit on the side (most people's concerns) and DC getting hurt if they're outboard, in most cases you'd have to be hit SO hard that the collision is unlikely to be survivable. Don't forget that cars have come a long way, in newer models there are crumple zones and steel beams and other things that absorb crash energies before it gets to the passenger compartment. There is a good 6"+ between the seat and the outside of the car.

If the middle is not an option, eithe because of the car not accomodating the seat or the child seat not fitting in the middel, the passenger rear is the next best choice.
Statistically, there are fewer crashes in the passenger rear than the driver rear.

We have always had DS's behind the passenger seat, never the driver's side.
When DS #2 arrives, we will move the convertible seat behind the driver and put the infant seat behind the passenger for more space.
