Re: carpal tunnel

Had it third trimester with DD very very bad. I was writing my baby shower thank you's and had to stop 1/2 way through each one because my hand went numb.

I didn't have the brace until my MIL brought one to me in the hospital (after a c-section with my arms pinned out, it was AWFUL). That brace was the only thing that helped.

I absolutely reccomend getting the brace, you'll use it now, and after you have the baby. It took a while for mine to subside after DD. I still have some troubles, but not like I did before. I'm already expecting it to flare up later in this pregnancy.Chat Icon

Re: carpal tunnel

i have a slight case of carpral tunnel pre-pregnancy. i wore a brace on my wrist every night for a month and it helped a lot.
now in the 3rd trimester its back. i get it a lot at night, when i put on make up and when i straighten my hair. i would try doing the wrist brace at night every night. they are about $20 at a drug store

Re: carpal tunnel

I have it really bad in both arms. I have daytime braces and nighttime braces. The night ones have more of an effect than the days ones do.

I ice my elbows, wrists and hands every night for about an hour (combined) before bed. That def helps reduce the swelling and get me a few decent hours of sleep. Today my OB suggested a Tylenol PM - which I'm a bit leery to try because I don't want to be groggy in the morning.

Good luck. It sux - but it will almost certainly dissipate after delivery - although not immediately, necessarily.

Re: carpal tunnel

I have it with this one but it comes and goes. Usually after I have been doing too much with my hand. I wear a brace thing I got at Target for Carpel Tunnel and it seems to help with pain and discomfort. Its very common in pregnancy bc of extra fluid your body produces.

Tylenol S*cks for pain relief. Talk to your DR. Mine said If I need to take motrin 1X a day its not that bad.

Same here! I didn't realize it was PG related until my friend from work said she got the same thing.

Re: carpal tunnel

Thank you all. I called the doctor. They told me to get a brace. I am going today. Do you only wear it at night? I am going to try to not take any meds if I can get away with it.

Its really painful.

I only wore mine at night or when I was doing wrist intensive stuff, for example I scooped iocecream for like 8 years in high school and college which gave me carpel tunnel for the first time. So I had to wear one at work for the last couple months until I graduated and got a big girl job, lol
