Caffeine

I know we are supposed to keep our intake low but how many ounces a day do you think we can have? My dr hasn’t told me anything yet. I am going with the motto everything in moderation. I’m keeping it as low as possible but I’m really starting to feel sluggish in the afternoon. Just wondering how much is an acceptable “in moderation” amount

Re: Caffeine

8 ounces of regular coffee...

i am a total coffee addict and have switched over to decaf. i also am a migraine sufferer so on bad headache days i allow myself a regular coffee/soda or two since i can't take any of my regular migraine stuff.

Re: Caffeine

I think they say one cup of coffee a day is OK but less is better so I tried to cut back as much I could manage. I had about 6 cups of sumatra from the office Flavia machine during my first trimester spaced out pretty evenly - I tracked it in my pregnancy calendar app. I was exhausted but found that once I gave up coffee I would perk up dramatically after drinking gatorade (maybe the electrolytes helped?) and juice.

Re: Caffeine

i was told to keep it around or below 200mg. I usually have either 1 cup (8oz) of brewed coffee or a grande latte (2 shots of espresso are approx 120-150mg). I also have some chocolate during the day but not a lot...

During the week, I really don't drink any caffeine but on weekends, I probably have more than I should. I figure at 34 weeks, the baby is fine!

Seriously??? Thats seems totally unrealistic to me! I am not a coffee drinker but that means you cant even have chocolate.....

I drink up to 2 glasses of caffinated soda a day (most days I dont have any but some days I can't help myself) When I had DS I think I probably had more...My Dr always said everything in moderation! And DS is doing pretty well for a crazy, smart happy 3.5 year old so I think she was right!Chat Icon

Re: Caffeine

I was told 1 or 2 cups of coffee is fine.

I have a cup of coffee each day. Some days a diet coke or unsweetened ice tea.

On weekends I have more...coffee in the am, after to dinner if I am out sort of thing.

Yes, Serious. You know, I am seeing him tomorrow and I am going to ask him why he told me this at our first visit 2 weeks ago. I'm curious bc I do LOVE me some dark chocolate every now and then!
