Question about level 2
I go to South Bay OBGYN and I have my appointment for tonight for 20 weeks and I wanted to call to find out about my sonogram. They said it's an anatomy scan and level 2's are only done for high risk pregnancies. I feel like everyone else on here has had a level 2 and I am wondering why they don't do it over here. I don't really know what to think. Everyone seems to have a long scan and I only had a 10 min time span between my sonogram and appointment which made me think to call and ask them.
Did anyone else just have an anatomy scan and not a level 2? Is there something I am missing out on by not having this done? Should I request it?

Re: Question about level 2
i thought these were the same thing. if the baby is in a good position for measurement it doesnt take very long. mine lasted 10 minutes and they got a whole bunch of pics and measurements.

Re: Question about level 2
I thought level 2's and anatomy scans were the same thing. I just had mine and they looked for the sex, took measurements, fluid levels and i got 18 pictures to take home with 3D ones too.

Re: Question about level 2
I assumed they were the same thing. My practice and the lab I went to both called it an anatomy scan. I had a 16w anatomy scan and a 20w anatomy scan.
They went through and checked all of the different body parts and organs, checked gender, took measurements, flipped to 3D for us and gave us a bunch of pictures. It took about 45 minutes at 16w and 30 minutes at 20w but was very cooperative.
I wouldn't worry -- I'd be curious to hear what they consider the difference between an anatomy scan and a level II though!
(Edit: I thought "level I" was industry slang for 12 week/NT scan and "level II" was industry slang for 20 week anatomy scan)

Re: Question about level 2
With DS I didnt have a level 2. I had a basic sono at 20/21 weeks and that was it.
My OB felt there wasnt a reason to do lots of tests and such.
ETA: A level 2 (I believe) is more than just a scan, its also a blood work up.
I did have a "level 2" with this pregnancy as I am with a different OB becuase my last one retired after DS was born.
