Netflix Users- Especially Rating Lovers

Warning: VERY Long Rant/Vent

I have been a loyal netflix customer continuously since early 2006.

Today, I saw on my netflix history (DVD rentals and Watch It Now Queue) that all the ratings for the television series I had ever watched and rated were completely deleted and gone.

I call to ask what is going on and the woman on the phone was practically mocking me because I cared about it. At first, she said that can't be and then she logged into my account and saw what happened. Then she put me on hold to talk to the research department. She came back and said "Well on the bright side, you still have 2,500 movies rated... that is pretty impressive..." and basically told me since they switched how they are organizing the TV shows and since it is no longer by disc (now by series) it was erased and nothing can be done about it. The database has changed.

Her answer: I have to re-rate them all. They didn't even offer me anything for this problem. When I questioned her about that, she said well do you want me to send you some extra discs? And my answer was no, I have 1 DVD out at a time, because that is all I have time for in my week and if I wanted to watch more I could just use watch it now.

I mean what kind of service is this, where they expect you to rate all of these items to serve you better and to offer the rating service as your own personal catalog, to then just take it away and not even care or try to fix it.

I can't remember everything I ever rated. It is so annoying because I am obsessive about rating things and now I have to go back and change it all which is impossible because I can't remember everything I ever rated and this will become so time consuming.

Well, I have been rerating all day and I have already found 200 television series that I had to rerate. Yes, good thing I still have my 2,500 movies ... but what an inconvenience that I lose 200+ others.

I don't feel safe now even bothering with this because I feel like how do I know that one day my movie ratings aren't going to just vanish also?

Also, bit of a side note: I have always noticed my ratings going down and sometimes noticed that something I thought I rated showed up as unrated, but DH always told me I was just crazy. Now I have proof!!

Well... sorry you're upset about it.

They are always good to us about giving us an extra disc out if something is a bit slower (as in... two days instead of one day shipping) so we're always happy.

We don't rate them.

We have a queue long enough just based on stuff we want to see or re-see or have been recommended by word of mouth.

I guess they could've warned people they'd be doing this. It just doesn't really affect me so I can't relate to being upset. Sorry

I'm annoyed they got rid of Friends. I used to get great suggestions from my best friend's queue.
