Do you ever just get in the car and drive?
A friend of mine did this yesterday and just randomly ended up in Massachusetts.
I envy him, I am always so planned. It makes me want to get get in the car with DH one Saturday morning and take off Long Island and see where we go.
Anyone else?

When I was young and single I did that. I generally ended up in the vicinity of a friend's house so I would crash there. Now with DH and the kids, there is no way!!

DH & I do, we make trips usually with a destination in mind but we dont usually plan it out for more than a hour or so before we take off.

When I was younger I did... Came home from a club at 6am and hopped in the car and drove all the way to Montreal... no joke.. I dunno how I didnt fall asleep... And then I stayed 1 night and drove back home the next day... LOL

Sometimes we just get in the car with an idea of an area we would like to visit, and just drive around the country lanes and the hills. We live near some amazingly beautiful parts of England.

This is exactly what I'm talking about, being impulsive!
I have to plan the dog sitter, this is part of my problem too.
I plan on being "impulsive" this Summer with DS. But with trips within LI and for the day.
Like if I feel we should go to Splish Splash. I will just hop in the car with DS and go.
I want to restore some of the "unplanned" adventures a bit.

this post reminds me of one of my favorite songs ever
we used to do this a lot. we still do to a certain extent. even if we are going some place planned...we try to take the road less traveled.
there is something beautifully freeing about it.
don't let the price of gas stop you.

I would love to do this! DH is not interested in a road trip though. We have a Prius so it's not like we would be too affected by the gas prices.
