sleeping help for newborn - he won't stay in bassinet!

so, I already have an issue with my older son - who won't sleep in his bed...and now my newborn won't sleep in his bassinet.

he cries if he is put in there after a feeding. Even swaddling and a paci does not work..he just is most content in my arms. I transfer him when he is knocked out, but he seems to notice and awaken.

I absolutely couldn't CIO at this age..I think I'd cry my eyes out.

this is all partially my fault....I just love babies and can't put them down.

DS wouldn't sleep in the bassinet from day one. He doesn't like being flat so he has been sleeping in the Fisher Price Rock n Sleeper. It's a miracle worker for us!

First of all, it's wonderful you are holding your baby so much. This is not your fault! DS never slept anywhere but our arms for the first 6 weeks. Chat Icon I finally resigned to letting him sleep on his belly and it worked miracles! Everyone will have advice on here so this is a great place to ask for help! Just know, you're not alone!Chat Icon

Same here. We still can't get DD to sleep on a flat surface (although on the weekends, I've been successful getting her to sleep in our bed when I hold her legs still) and she's 3 months old. But she sleeps great in the FP rocker since she can't kick her legs and keep herself awake in there. We really love having her next to the bed so it's super convenient.

Re: sleeping help for newborn - he won't stay in bassinet!

We are using the pack and play as a bassinet, and DS goes down fine at about 11:30 when we go to bed, but then after the 2am feeding it just won't happen. If DH is off the next day, he'll go play video games and DS will sleep on his chest Chat Icon. If DH has work in the morning I'll go downstairs and try the swing and/or the Fisher Price Rock and Play if I'm really tired myself. Otherwise I'll sit and hold him. I can't help it. I really do love holding him, so I don't really mind.

Sophia slept in her swing for the first three months. She would not sleep in the bassinet.
