what are you doing for childcare?

the nanny/daycare thing is stressing me out. I don't even know where to start and how to go about this.

SAHM, we worked out that alot of our money (most of my paycheck) would be going towards daycare, especially now that we are having #2, so im a SAHM

Most likely my mom... if Shauns cousin is willing I'd ask her also... she lives 2 houses down and her DD will be older by then... and i know she could use extra money!

I'm stressing out too and we don't even need daycare until January 2012! I really don't know what we are going to do... I get 4 months of paid maternity and 80% hours at 100% pay for the 6 months after I return so I'm hoping to work out an arrangement where I'm "off" 1 day a week for those 6 months. My DH works from home more often than not and my job is somewhat flexible so I'm hoping to be able to do - at least at first - 3 days of daycare, me home with the baby 1 day, and a combination of me/DH working from home together with the baby and/or my mom watching the baby for the 5th day... We'll see...

I did contact a daycare center in your area and they just e-mailed me today with info/brochure so message me your e-mail and I'll forward it on to you.

I plan on staying home the first year, then reevaluating.

When I go back we plan on doing a fulltime day care right near the school I work in. For me, it is too much to ask my mom or MIL to watch the baby, they are not kids. If they would like to each do a day then that would be great but I plan on daycare fulltime as is when I decide to return to work fulltime.

There's no humanly possible way I can be a SAHM. It makes me really sad. Both our moms work, but said they would take a day. So we're planning on doing p/t daycare. I need to find a job though, because right now I'm a substitute teacher and it doesn't pay the bills. So we have a lot to think about.

we're doing a combo of MIL watching DD 2 days a week and then a friend is going to watch DD 3 days a week (we are paying her and she already watches another little girl) but both DH and I can work unpredictable hours so having people who understand our scheduling issues watching DD was a necessity.

absolutely no idea. i have to go back full time, and dh has a weird (cop) schedule. so we don't really need full time child care.

Me until I find a job. When I get a job then my parents will watch the baby.

MIL for 2 or 3 days then either nanny or daycare the other 2 or 3 days

My mother will watch the baby 2 days & my MIL the other 2 days. I will be off from work the other three.

I am trying to work out a part time position at my job, in which case we will have family watch

If that doesn't work out, SAHM here I come.

with DD #1, it was me for 5 months full-time, then my mom full-time for 2-3 months and then part-time day care and my mom with summers and school vacations full-time with me.

for baby #2, it will be a similar schedule and then depending on how much my mom can do, it will probably be a combo. of daycare and my mom for both of them.

thanks girls. I can't ask either of our parents to watch our baby full time. Not even sure about part time. so for now, I'll keep looking into nannies and get on a daycare list just in case.

I am a Full Year Leave Replacement and we were told that there aren't any openings in the building next year. So SAHM here I come! (for at least the first year!)

I found out on Oct 20 that we were being laid off as of Jan 15. On Oct 22 I got a BFP.
My decision was made for me.

I will be a SAHM for a little while. we also plan on having another kid within 2 years of DD being born ... so going back to work before then would be hard. But eventually I will probably work a part time job locally.

I have no idea what we are going to do. I REALLY don't want to do daycare until the baby is 1. My parents are retired but they are very active and travel all the time. It's not really fair for me to expect them to watch my kid. They haven't offered either.

DH's 2 aunts are SAHM so I was wondering if maybe they would take the baby a couple of days a week. I don't know. It's really stressing me out though. I can tell you that.

MIL is quitting her job and becoming our full-time day care provider.

i hate this question because i wish my answer was me...but unfortunatly its not.

my next wish was that if it couldnt be me, it would be my mom, but unfortunatly that is not gonna happen either...

my best friend is a SAHM and just moved 5 mins from me so we are pretty sure that she will be watching the baby while i am at work.

i guess thats the next best thing!

if for whatever reason that doesnt work then we found a family group daycare that we liked so the baby will be there full time while we work.

Day care center-our other two go there and we really like it so this one will go too.

My grandmother will come to my house 5 days a week to watch him while the hub and I work.

This service will not be free but at $500/month I think its a win/win.
