nausea

I'm 7 weeks and every evening I get so nauseous (around 5pm) and it doesn't go away all night until I just go to bed. I try to eat but it sometimes feels like a chore. I just wish I could actually throw up instead of this queasy feeling all night, it makes me really unmotivated and I cant get anything done, and not to mention the exhaustion.
I drink lots of ginger ale..any other recommendations?

Re: nausea

I'm almost 7 weeks and can't seem to keep anything except for crackers down all day. It has definitely gotten worse in the past few days. My guaranteed stay down foods are not working out so well. I eat and then my body has another idea for the food.
Then at about 5ish I can keep more food down.

I suck on little pieces of candied ginger and that helps a little. Way more potent then ginger ale. I have ginger and crackers in all of the key places in my life, work, car and house.

I have also found that not drinking a lot while eating helps a little too.
Good luck

Re: nausea

You have to eat something. Having an empty stomach just makes it so much worse. Force yourself to eat a little something...it should make you feel better! Chat Icon

Re: nausea

All I could eat then was carbs carbs carbs. Just eat whatever sounds good to you. I did a lot of grilled cheese sandwiches and mashed potatoes.

I got preggie pops and drops from the maternity clothing store and those helped me a lot at the beginning of my nausea. I started throwing up at 9 1/2 weeks and stopped the day I turned 14 weeks. But I'd throw up first thing in the morning (crackers before I got out of bed only made it worse) and then I'd actually be ok the rest of the day. I remember wanting to know if throwing up would make it better, but I was glad I didn't force myself to. When it becomes inevitable, it'll just happen. Not really fun, but the end result is worth it of course.

Re: nausea

I got these chewy ginger candies from Jandi's in Oceanside (a health food store)

I think they sell them online too somewhere.

Re: nausea

Best thing I can recommend is what some others have already said- try not to let your stomach get empty. I used to try to eat little meals and then constantly snack throughout the day. I always kept crackers, granola bars, pretzels, etc. stocked up at work and in my car. I'd eat things like fruit and carrot sticks, anything to nosh on.

Thank God for Zofran! Believe it or not, I found pickles and pickle juice to somewhat help. As gross as it may seem, it did take away some of the nausea. Sea Bands also worked a bit and my Dr. said it's fine to just eat Jello and Watermelon all day!
