Re: How important to you..
As soon as we got engaged, I pushed HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE. We wanted kids right away and I knew I wanted to settle in and design / decorate / change things etc all BEFORE we had kids. Well plans didn't work out, and it took over 2 years to get pregnant. Now looking back we could have saved SO much money and time (commuting is a beeeotch compared to living/working in the city) To me it is a waste and totally non necessity till you have kids. Other people feel differently.

Re: How important to you..
Not important to me. Since being divorced, the house is more than I can handle alone. Financially...I feel like I'm drowning with the house and could be very happy renting. This is my dilmena at the moment...what to do about it, because I'm underwater on the mortgage+HELOC due to the reno I did while I was still married. I would be very happy if I could go back and rent something

Re: How important to you..
We are renting right now...I hate it. We live in a two family house and I hear every little thing that goes on downstairs...our landlords are deadbeats, the house is falling apart and I feel like we're throwing $1500/month down the drain. We are desperate to buy and have our own space to do with what we like and not have anyone around to bother us. Probably some of our problems could be fixed if we just rented somewhere else, but we are sick and tired of living in the same building as other people.

The main reasons we own a house:
- We don't have to deal with a landlord - We have pets - We have a "LOUD" child - We have a yard - Privacy - We can do whatever we want to do with our house
I lived most of my life in an apartment. I am no longer willing to live in an apartment (unless a gigantic condo in NYC!!!). So I would have to live in a house. I don't want to share it with anyone else upstairs or downstairs. BTDT!!!! I am not against renting at all IF it make sense financially. For what we want, where we want to live, our lifestyle, buying makes more sense than renting and for the price it would be to rent a house, we might as well buy it.
Word for word the same.
