POLL - Finding out or Waiting?

My IL's are pressuring us to find out (because they are hoping for a boy - DH is their only boy to carry on the name).. but I want to wait & have it to be a surprise.

Anyone else not finding out? People giving you crap about it?

idk why it matters if they find before hand or at birth its not as if the sex is going to change lol... people are funny...

we are finding out... theres no way i could go on knowing that i could find out and not...

We did it like that the first 2 times so I think people assume that's how we are doing it this time.

as of now we are waiting.. DH wants to know.. but I think we will be Team Green! I find it hilarious that your inlaws want to know whether the name will carry on.. omgg.. you are due in less than 6 months.. no changing the gender now..

We found out. We couldn't not find out.

BUT I'll be honest...I'm not a fan of finding out because someone in the family has a preference. IDK but something just doesn't sit right with me. So then if it's a girl they are just going to be disappointed? That's how I would feel about it.

I'm sure most people not finding out get crap from some people. Seems to be typical. If you aren't going to find out, just make sure you really do not want to know and you are strong enough to not give in. if you don't want to know.... then don't let IL's pressure you into finding out because they want a boy. Do what YOU want to do!!

An alternative that I do love... is the gender reveal party...you don't know what the baby is.... and no one at the part knows. The bakery makes the cake in pink or blue (on the inside) and you cut the piece and all find out together. It's sooo cute! Someone on here recently posted a video of it.

It was hard enough to wait 20 weeks. There was no way i was waiting until 40. We found out!

We are finding out. My husband definitely wants to know so we can set up the nursery, outfits, etc and be prepared. We are going to be surprised next pregnancy!

I have no patience to wait!

I found out only because me and DH wanted to know, not for anyone else. So many people were telling us to wait for the surprise at birth but we wanted to know.

It's yours and your DHs decision, dont let anyone pressure you

We are not finding out and I am actually getting very positive responses from that. Everyone is so happy we are waiting.

We're team green. A lot of people have given us a hard time about not finding out, but my ILs were the worst. We're not finding out the gender and we're not telling the name until birth. I actually had to tell my MIL to back off because she was taking the joy out of it for us and it's our kid - we can do it however we want. She's been quiet since then.

we're finding out for ourselves for now, still wondering if we should tell other people.

We really haven't decided on that.

My husband and my ILs tried to make me find out but I said no! It made me so mad when they would say lets just find out our or everything is going to be green and yellow. It was my 1st and I was not going to find out. I promised my DH we would find out for our 2nd. Which I did and I hate knowing I liked being surprised, but that is just me.

We are staying team and no one has said anything negative about it. A few people were actually really happy because they think it's more fun that way too!

I would only find out if me and dh wanted to know. Not for anyone else. They can just deal.

So what happens if you find out and it's a girl? Does that mean your ILs will have no more interest at that point? I hate when people want to find out because they have a preference.

I can not wait for DH to be able to tell our family and friends the baby's sex and name, when the time comes.

When we have that moment in the delivery room together, I know it's going to be amazing. After all the work, the time it's been "cooking", and the anticipation...sharing that moment with my DH just feels like it will be indescribable.

I think IF you can wait then it is an amazing surprise. But we just cannot!

We are definitely finding out. Theres no way I have enough self control to last the entire pregnancy nor do I (personally) see a reason to.

I am on the fence...its still early for us, 12w.

My heart was always set on staying team green, THEN we found out it was going to be twins and that started to change my mind. I feel like there is SO much preparation involved now.

We found out! I am a control freak and need to plan and prepare as much as possible. I honestly had no desire to be team green and luckily neither did my DH. We thought we would find out around 18w but actually "knew" since 11w2d because the sono tech told us she was pretty sure she could tell it was a . We had a different sono tech tell us at 12w1d and had it officially confirmed at 16w1d. I'm very glad we found out because we don't have to fight over girl names and instead I can obsess over baby bedding

My mom did make one comment about how she was team green and are we sure we don't want to be surprised, but I responded that we will be surprised when we find out, whenever that is, and if she would like the surprise she can wait until the birth. Of course she was DYING to find out and didn't want to wait. (Anyone who gave us a comment about being team green got that comment and everyone wanted to find out as soon as we knew)

It's really a personal choice. No right or wrong. Just make the decision based on what you and DH want and not what other people want.

DH is a big "planner" and would not let us stay when I was pregnant with DS.

This time when we found out it was twins, we really needed to know what we were having so we could figure out what (if anything) of DS we could re-use.
