second trimester spotting? (TMI and long)

did anyone have second trimester spotting? if so, did you ever figure out the cause? how did your doctor handle it?

I don't know what made me think of this now, but I never had spotting until 14w3d when I had a streak of pinkish brown spotting on a liner (nothing when I wiped) and the faintest brown spotting the following day. We had BD 2 days earlier. I freaked out and ended up calling my OB's emergency line because it was a Saturday and they said as long as it wasn't bright red or accompanied by cramping to take it easy and call my doctor on Monday. I put myself on bed rest for the rest of the weekend, found the HB on my doppler Sat and Sun (thank god I had that - worth every penny) and worked from home on Monday. OB said they didn't need to see me but to call if I had more spotting.

When I went for my 16w anatomy scan they examined me and said I had a "low placenta" that would be placenta previa but they don't call it that until 20w+ because it's common this early and usually moves by 20w. They didnt think I needed to be on bed rest, pelvic rest, etc.

I've been really nervous to BD ever since the spotting but we did this weekend (17w3d) and luckily there was no spotting. I have another OB appt coming up this week...

Did any of you have second-trimester spotting? Was it a fluke thing or was it linked to something else?

I have been spotting for 4 weeks. I went to the OB Wednesday and he said my low placenta seems to be moving lower and lower and would cause the spotting. He thought as the baby grew the placenta would move up but it seems as the baby grows, the placenta is moving lower. He said there is a still a chance it could move but he won't call it a previa until 28 weeks and if it's still low or covering my cervix, they will them call it a previa. But that is what has been causing my spotting issues and tenderness.

Spotting after BD is totally normal and common. It's not coming from anything having to do with the baby; it's just that your cervix is swollen with blood and when it's, erm, "poked," a little bit of blood might come out. Like when I had a pap smear at my first OB appointment, the OB told me I'd spot for a couple of days; it's to be expected. Seeing blood is always scary, but a little blood after bd is really just from the bd and not from a problem with the baby.

As to your original question, I had some heavy spotting when I was 14 weeks after I exercised. It was red. Scary. My OB told me to go on "pelvic rest" - no intercourse, exercise, or heavy lifting - until my next appointment. At that appointment, 3 weeks later, he told me the bleeding was "weird, but nothing to be worried about" since the baby's heartbeat was fine.

My OB said that you shouldn't have sex for two weeks after you have spotting. I had some right after my surgery, but I was still in the 1st tri.

I full on bled, red, right at the change from 1st tri to 2nd tri.

The dr was able to, sorry TMI, drain a bunch out of me with a gorse pad. I then had brown spotting for over a week.

They were unable to find a cause and deemed it to be from being too active or stressed. So I was put on modified rest...low activity...no heavy lifting or standing/walking too long... basically not to do much. no sex, feet up lay down often etc.

I haven't bled since.

I had some red bleeding at 16.5 weeks-it saturated a pantiliner. Scared the daylights out of me. We went to the ER. Everything was fine though. I was on pelvic rest for 2 and a half weeks. 20 week sono showed no issues.
