We want to do a day trip from Paris and are considering Burgandy, but I wanted to hear others' opinions about another area.
TIA!!

We're looking into Paris as well and were thinking of doing a day trip to Versailles to check out the palace.

South of France, Nice!

Yep, sorry misread first post, can't do this in a day but certainly worth a trip if you have longer!

You cannot go to the South of France for a day trip or even the wine area (except the Champagne area).

Reims - Champagne area
Normandy
I personally love the Mont St Michel but this is a long trip for 1 day.
Loire valley with all the castes (that would be my personal choice)
Versaille (2nd best)

What time of year will you be going?

if you like wine- then bordeaux region.

3 hour train from paris.

we took the train to bordeaux and stayed at a cute little inn in wine country - in a sleepy town called blaye.

the owners are british and south african and they have fantastic connections with the local chateaus- they will take you around too

called Villa St Simon..

Definitely Mont St. Michel or Versailles. Both are beautiful and worth a full day excursion.

Britany (Bretagne) is nice in late April but in France (northern part) there could be lots of showers. That's common!

For a 1 day trip:
Versailles (the closest)
Loire Valley (but you need to rent a car and you must like castles. Chat Icon )
Mont St Michel (the longest trip FULL FULL day. You need a car too. Just don't park where is the low tide. The high tide will take the car away).

Versailles is amazing. The actual Palace is nice and the guided tours are really educational, but... the gardens! They're breathtaking. Pack a picnic and just roam for as long as you can.

Also, FYI, you can take commuter rail from Paris.

I also loved Dijon, but that was an overnight excursion from Paris.
