So when my DS was born we did a cars/trucks theme in his nursery. And now at almost four years old, he is obsessed with cars Chat Icon No surprise since DH is also car obsessed.

Now that I know that DC#2 is also a boy, do I keep the same nursery theme? All of the nursery items (quilt, wall hangings, lamp, valance, etc.) are in perfect condition. I'd probably just get a few more sheets. But part of me feels that the new baby should get his own theme (although I think a love of cars will be coded on his DNA Chat Icon )

What did you ladies do? Same theme or different?

Well, in my case I can't. DS had a "forest" theme. I LOVED his room. We had a tree mural painted on the wall and did the room amazing. A little over a year later we moved. LOL! All that work, but someone else can appreciate the hard work we put into it.
Now, DS is in mostly an empty room b/c we're moving him to the biggest room and doing a "nautical" theme in there. He loves fish and the beach, etc.
We don't know what #2 will be. Team Chat Icon
I think we'll pick out stuff for both sexes and go from there. I don't want any theme this time, but a color.
Although... I can't say till I pick out the bedding Chat Icon
For you... I say if everything looks great then why not keep it as is. Then you can change it sooner than later and you know you got good use of everything Chat Icon

In my case I cant since #2 is a boy and #1 is a girl! Also DD will only be 16 months so she is still technically in her nursery!

I picked a gender neutral theme for DD - it's actually blue, green, white & a little brown - so we're keeping it for #2, regardless of gender.

We didn't do a them - not my style - so it's not a big deal -

The nursery is painted blue and cream plaid - so I'm just getting new bedding and stuff for #2, and moving Sean into our current room (repainting etc) and we're moving to the newly renovated master suite upstairsl -

not preggo, but I'm less than a year off this board, so to answer your question, I have 3 boys. I changed themes between 1 & 2, but kept the nautical theme from 2 to 3 (plus they are close in age so everything was in excellent condition)

DS #2 is getting DS #1's room as it is. DS #1 is getting his own big boy room, as DS #2 will when he is old enough to move downstairs (we are upstairs).

they're sharing a room, so we're keeping it the same. DS1 will have his quilt from his crib bedding in his toddler bed.

We made #1's room a room he could grow into. #2 got his own theme (also something to grow with)

#3 will get a new nursery too.

Re: If DC#2 is/was the same gender as DC#1.....

We did a different theme....since he is in the same room as DS #1 when he was a baby, we thought it would be weird to have him in the same room and have the same theme.........like it would never be DS#2's room

We were team green with my 1st DS so as of right now we are keeping as it is. I want to change it to a sports team since they are both boys.

if they are same gender we are keeping the nursery as is, and moving DD into another room and getting her big girl furniture etc. If its a Chat Icon then we will just put him in the new room with new decor (I'm not really into themes though, so it will just be a color scheme more than anything).
