Has anyone renewed their passport recently?
Did you get it back within the 4-6 weeks processing time? Earlier? Later? I'm traveling in 6 weeks and I don't want to take the chance of not getting it on time but I also don't want to pay the extra $60!

i had to do mine and needed it within 7 weeks... i expedited it cause I didn't want to take any chances. Got it in 2 weeks.

I just did this in January and got it back within a month. I didn't expedite the service but I did pay for overnight shipping in case it got lost.

I actually JUST got mine back and it literally took 2 weeks. I was in the same predicament as you...leaving in 6 weeks and I totally didn't want to pay the extra $$ to get it expedited.

Mine took exactly two weeks...I sent it out 6 weeks to the day before I was supposed to go to Europe. Apparently there's a space on the form where it asks for your travel plans. If you tell them you're going away, the Post Office said they will pretty much guarantee that it will get back to you in time.
