BTDT Moms: When did you introduce juice to your baby?
Hey ladies, I'm just curious and interested to see when everybody introduce their DC's to juice and was it diluted? Was it out of a cup or bottle? I was just reading "What to Expect the First Year" and it has me thinking...thanks!

My DS just turned 2 and he's never had juice. Just water and milk. His pediatrician said there is no nutritional value to it and there is no need for him to have it so we've never given it to him. He loves his water!

I agree with this.
Carlie is 16 months and has only had 1 oz of prune juice with Water when she needs it.
Other then that, she really hasn't had any juice.
OH... when she was sick and in the ER they gave her juice as a treat!

DS gets 3oz of juice diluted with water every few days. DH started that at 11 months

We did this too. DD is almost 3.5 years old and still doesn't drink juice. Just water or milk.

My ped said the AAP recommends no juice at all any more.
It's just sugar and empty calories.
She said if I wanted to, I could give it to her on occassion, but dilute it with water.
I feel no need to get her hooked on it though- if it has no nutrional value, I figured, why start a habit, kwim?

At about 9 months we gave her some diulted apple juice in her sippy. I give her some mostly on the weekends...1 oz of juice to 2 oz water. Too much juice can cause diarrhea so we only give sometimes.

dd has juice, the dr said that it will help when she had constipation. always in a sippy cup. we use the apple juice for tots and water. around 4 months
or maybe 6 months. i cant remember but you can introduce the sippy to him so he learns

Same here. My 5 year old RARELY has juice - Yael, 20 months, has never had it.

When DD was sick at 16 months I put a little juice in with the water so she would drink and not get dehydrated. It worked, and even now on days she won't drink her water I put a drop of juice so it has some taste and she drinks it. She never gets straight juice, it's more like 90% water 10% juice.

DD doesn't drink juice and she's 18 months. I gave it to her once and she flat out rejected it. DS (turning 3 soon) drinks juice a few times a week. I dilute it with a lot of water. There's more water than juice in his cup.

closer to age 2 we first gave it to him and it's really watered down, he loves water and milk so I'm lucky so far.
