Re: ugly tiles - HELP!!

we redid our hideous kitchen floor with wood laminate. Go check out lowes or HD, stalk them if you have too. Sometimes they have really nice wood laminate on clearance for CRAZY cheap. We redid the whole kitchen (installed ourselves) for under $250 I think.

Another vote for the DIY wood floors. We have the Ikea one in our office. Here's a pic from when DH first put them down:

I love the look of wood floors in a dining room, with an area rug. If you want to stick with a tiled look, but just don't like your particular tiles, my parents just got laminate tiles in their dining room and entry and they are really nice. They look like expensive ceramic tiles, but were relatively inexpensive and very durable.

Re: ugly tiles - HELP!!

i think they are ceramic tiles.

i just watched a video on lowe's on how to install wood floor. is it alot of work? we don't have any of those power tools to cut the board. also, are the laminate wood/tiles thin? or would it be too thin to go on top of the tiles?

i think if they are ceramic, not matter what you do, you will have to tear them out and level the floor underneath. The laminate are floating floors, so most of them dont need to nail them down, they just lock into one another. They were super easy to install. As for the tools, you can rent most of the big tools youll need for the day from home depot.

Re: ugly tiles - HELP!!

I was also researching laminate floors, on one website it said unless the ceramic tiles were damaged, there was no need to remove them. So ask 1st but also you can search it on the internet.
