For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

Do you care?

For me, I don't. I see no sense in 2 of us waiting for over an hour and a half most times just for weight checks and peeing. He comes to important appts only and thats fine. Plus with a 1 year old-it's hard.

With dd he came to the appts that were at the very end if he was home from work.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

My husband doesn't come to any of my appointments. He only came to the level 2 with my first 2 kids, and this time he couldn't make it to that because of work. I don't care at all and I'd honestly rather him not be there. I find no need for it. If there was something big going on I'd like him there, and I would have liked him there for the 20 week sono, but we work opposite schedules and to try to work around both of our schedules is just too much. He would be ok with coming with me if I asked him to, but doesn't have a problem with not being there.

not al all. we choose to have it that way. I don't see the point, especially when it's just a blood pressure and weight check.

not at all - i honestly didn't think it was necessary for him to be at all of them w/ the 1st pregnancy - but he's nosey and in the medical field so he wants to know / see / hear everthing ..........

Not at all. DH came to my level 2 for this pregnancy and that's it so far.

Most of my appointments are so quick and easy - I ask all the questions I have and scoot out the door. I also shoot for the shortest wait time - so I tend to make appointments during the week in the morning. I have flexibility with my job to run to the dr and not lose any time. DH does not. I can't justify him using vacation time for routine appointments, and on the flip side, if I made all evening appointments, we'd be sitting there forever.

DH comes to all my dr. appts bc I'm able to schedule them for later in the day but as far as sonos that are done at the hospital, I don't want him to miss a day of work for those so my mom comes with me. I don't mind as long as I have someone with me.

Not at all! I work FT and try to get evening appointments. But I have a 1 year-old at home so if he comes with me, than we need a sitter which is a PITA.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

I don't think it makes sense for him to be at every appointment. If there was a problem, and we had to discuss important issues with the doctor, then of course I'd want him there.

We have a 3 year old DS. So DH usually stays home with him. It just doesn't make sense for him to come for a regular appointment. He came for the appointment when we first saw the heartbeat, he didn't come for the 12 week NT scan... he stayed home with DS, he came for the gender check sono at 15 weeks, and he'll come for the Level II. As long as everything is fine, he probably won't come to many if any of the other appointments. I'd rather he stay with DS.

I have a sono at every appt so my DH likes to come to them whenever he can so he can see the girls.
If he cant,, he cant. I dont mind at all. I was only upset when he missed the Anatomy scan cuz it was such a cool appt.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

Because I'm having twins and they consider me high risk.. I go to the obgyn every 2 weeks and the hospital/high risk specialist every 2 weeks.. so essentially I have at least 1 appt a week... DH works in the city and I work close to home.. he works till 7pm.. I work till 3pm.. it's not easy for him to take off/leave early/go in late because he manages an entire dept at his company and people always look to him. I let him know in advance when I want him to be there such as April 1st we have the 20 week scan.. so I made it early in the morning and we both took off so we can do that together and then have a relaxing (hopefully) day together.

I told Shaun he didnt have to come to them all... he wanted to...

And it worked out that i needed him there... especially when i had to drive directly to the hospital from the Dr. theres no way i would have made it there alone!

No, its ok with me - as others have said, why have two of us miss work when we don't need to?

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

I prefer it. We want to save his days so he can take more time off when the baby gets here. Also, my dr is in LI he works in Jersey City. It is such a hardship for a regular appointment IMO.

Also DH is in line for a promotion. I will be staying home with the LO. The last thing we want is him asking favors to get off or being seen in a negative light. We need his job since I won't be working when LO gets here.

It doesn't bother me that doesn't come to the routine ones. I would rather be in and out anyways. He stays home with the kids.

no. the appointments were so quick and uneventful that there was no reason for him to go. plus with my work schedule it was easier for me to schedule my appts for the days and times that worked best for me and not have to consider his crazy schedule.

Not at all the appointments are so quick that it would be so silly for him to take a few hours off work to just wait around. I could always call him if there was an emergency and worse case scenario my dad's office is right down the hall from my OB so he could come over if something happened.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

I think I only felt slightly bad reading the dads who go to all appointments on here.

At my obgyn office, I'd say 90% of the women are there alone.

DH has to miss seeing his own patients or not operate to come to my appointments. It really does seem silly and a waste of time for him to come watch a nurse take my weight and blood pressure and the obgyn to ask me how i'm feeling and check the heartbeat. I don't mind one bit when he does not come to that.

Like today, I have an appointment and DH is totally available. I told him to stay home and set stuff up for the new baby. I'd rather him do that.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

so far DH has been to all of my appts except for my betas, but I considered all of those "important"

(first OB appt + dating sono at lab, 11w new patient appt when i switched practices with sono, NT scan at 12w, second part of new patient appointment with midwife at 14w, and 16w sono at lab)

I like that he comes with me, but I told him he doesn't need to come to the weight check/pee in a cup appts especially since I've been having appts constantly, but he will come to all sonos, and maybe to some later regular checkups.

No I dont mind. Seems pointless for him to take off or even take a half day for an appt where I pee in a cup and get weighed.

Id rather him save the days for when DS is here so he can spend time with him.

Don't mind at all. When I was pregnant with DS he came to all the big appointments. This time he was only able to come to my first appointment and my 12 week.

This is the way I feel. With our first I told my dh not to bother. There was really no reason for him to leave work early to go to a 5 minute appt.

The sono's were a different story. He always came to those appt's.

Re: For those that said your DH comes to only important appts

DH went to most of my appointments when I was pregnant with DD.

Maybe 2 when I was pregnant with DS.

And now, since we are not finding out the gender, probably none with this one.

It doesn't bother me at all-it's too hard to coordinate with him.
