Inductions
If any of you were induced, especially with cervidil and then then pitocin, can you share your experiences? I know there are about 100 birth stories including inductions here but I just thought I'd give it another go. I'm especially concerned about the cervidil taking a really long time or not doing it's job; resulting in a long long labor... Also was DH with u the whole entire time? My DH works like 5 blocks away from the hospital and I hate for him to waste his parental leave on sitting in the hospital even before the Pitocin is inserted... I would much rather him having the extra day to spend with DS... Any thoughts?

Re: Inductions
well here are mine but don't know if mine is at all standard. . indcutions in general take more time bc your body is not ready. .
the first part is not really painful - much like early labor where you can go about your business. epecially if you make sure you don't have to be hooked up to things. . I insisted on a a hep lock so I didn't have to be on IV the whole time and just did intermittent monitoring. . so you might not need DH there for this time period. you could have a friend, or even hang by yourself if you don't care. . we even had two friends by for dinner one night, that's how mellow it started. .
once pitocin hits - WHOLE other ball game. . you will DEF not want to be alone and want DH there. .
none of the dilating tools actually made me dilate though they did help soften my cervix. . I did not dilate at all until I took the epi. . even afer my water broke.
if you and your LO are not in danger. .I'd say wait it out and see if your body starts on your own. . if not, I just made all decisions based on what my dr thought my LO needed but I trust her 2000%
