So we found out the sex and DS is going to have a little.....

sister!! we are sooooo excited. He's too young to understand anything, but we are so happy!!

So overall, baby looks great, but there were 2 things that were noted. 1st....I have excess amniotic fluid, NOT polyhydramnios, but a lot. Doc said it could be a sign for GD and I should be tested now instead of waiting till 28 weeks. 2nd thing was a soft marker on the heart.

Does anyone have any experience with either of these things?

Congrats!!! Lots of she is healthy! I know someone on the boards that just heard one of their has that soft marker. She is still waiting for it to go away on its own, which it can do! I will send her this link!

DD had a white spot on her heart at our 19 w anatomy scan, confirmed with the specialist at 20 w Level 2 sono but the spot could only be seen from one angle, not 3, and was not "as dense as bone" in the sono. The perinatologist recommended against doing an amnio based on those factors. At 28 w the white spot was still there, but again not as dense as bone.

DD is perfectly healthy. My OB says it could've just been a strong heart muscle, but they shy on the side of telling you about it than not so you can be informed just in case.

Congratulations so exciting!!! I am the one Leslie is talking about with the soft marker on the heart, is it the echogenic foci?? That is what Baby B has right now for us. We were told it could be a soft marker but that usually if there are no other markers or signs then it usually will correct itself in the third trimester. My Dr. was very reassuring that there was nothing to be worried about, although he knows it's easier said than done. If you want to FM for any other info please do!

Thank you for the responses. The peri did not recommend an amnio based on just the one marker either and hopefully all will remain the same after my next check in 2 weeks.
