i tried and hated the belly band thing, seemed more uncomfortable than helpful.
i think i bought my first pair of maternity jeans at like 11 or 12 weeks.
they are so comfy.
I do think its a good idea to have a pair on hand because i feel like i went from not needing them to needing them over the course of like 2 days.

First time around I was probably 14+ weeks when I started the "rubber band trick" half way thorugh the day. By 16 weeks I was in maternity pants.
Second DC....I was in maternity pants before the first trimester was over!

I'd say about 10 weeks is when I bought my first pair. I probably could have gone another week or so with the bella band, but when I tried on those maternity pants.........what a liberating feeling

Early. The ol' rubber-band-around-the-button trick stopped working for me around 10 weeks. I could have kept going with the belly band for a while, I guess, but maternity pants feel soooooo good. I tried on a pair and gave right in.
I just bought a grey pair and a black pair for work, along with a black maternity skirt, and two pairs of jeans. That's held me for 5 or 6 weeks now.

I was still wearing my regular pants (low rise apparently lol) at 30wks. I was wearing maternity tops at around 18wks - to cover my boobs and belly lol

Super early, but I'm 
Last week I was sooooo uncomfortable, even with the rubber band trick.
Today is 7 weeks. I ran to Old Navy yesterday and picked up a couple of things - black pants & jeans. I didn't want to buy too much right now because I'm not sure what size I'll be in as the months progress.
Also, the selection in the store was terrible!!!!!!!
