good morning, help needed with Dr. comment
Good morning everyone, last nite i went to the Dr for my bi weekly check, i was having some braxton hicks they put me on the fetal monitor and they were very sporadic nothin of concern, but the dr did say that at this point they are going to treat me as full term, im confused because im only 34 weeks by my count down, ill be 35 on sunday, i was irregular before getting pregnant and the last ultrasound was measuring big. why would he say i was full term i thought you are full term at 37 weeks, he did an internal and said im still closed. They are sending me for a doppler vascular for continued swelling in my ankle, if there is not blood clot, they think my uterus is tilted to the right and that its putting pressure on my vein but we will know more after my test this afternoon, anyone with advice it would help alot :)

I'm not sure but I went for my 35wk checkup a couple of days ago and my dr. said it could be any day now....I was also confused. I think once you hit a certain point, they arent afraid if u go into labor bc the baby is a good size.

Re: good morning, help needed with Dr. comment
I know some OBs consider full term 36 weeks and some consider it 37.
I have also heard/read the lungs are the last thing to develop and with girls they are usually developed around 35. So maybe that is where his thoughts are coming from?

Re: good morning, help needed with Dr. comment
When I went into labor at 35 weeks with my daughter, they did nothing to stop the labor. They said she was considered full term at that point despite being 2 weeks prior to full term. They said that the benefits outweigh the risks of trying to stop labor at that point and the percentage of babies that do well at 35 weeks is very high ( I don't remember the number as it was 5 years ago). So she was born at exactly 35 weeks and came home with me. She did great.

I'm not much help here, but I think I read somewhere that 35 weeks can be considered full term.
