a few questions about car seats, especially Britax
I've "heard" that Britax is the best, but didn't realize how expensive they were until this weekend when I was in BBB! Is the price difference justified or is it just a name brand/hype issue? Did you register for a Britax carseat?
Are the Britax carseats for infants as well? I was reading some reviews on Amazon and there were a lot of rave reviews but a handful mentioned that they wouldn't use it as an infant carseat. Also, Britax wasn't listed as one of the carseats that can attach to an Uppababy Vista stroller. How important is that? We are 95% set on the Uppababy.
The thought of carseats is making my head spin. There are so many different options! We don't even own a car at the moment (we live in the city) but will likely move to Queens and buy a car in the next 6 months.

I have a Britax Roundabout which is the smaller, least expensive Britax. It was also rated the best of the Britax by Baby Bargains at the time (2007). You can't use it as an infant seat though, it's a convertible car seat for when they grow out of infant seat.

Re: a few questions about car seats, especially Britax
Britax is supposed to be rated the number one convertible car seat. That is different from the infant seat. The Graco Snugride and Chicco infant carriers seem to be rated the best in that category. It’s the infant seat that would attach to your stroller, not the Britax. So if you want a Britax convertible seat you don’t need to worry about it attaching to your stroller.
I thought I wanted a Britax, but my DH really liked another so I researched them both. We ended up going with the one he picked because they seem very similar, except ours is bigger than the Britax and the harness does not need to be rethreaded to be changed (big plus in my eyes). Plus it’s more than $100 cheaper than the Britax and we need two of the seats for each of our vehicles. The one we picked is the Safety 1st Air Complete Protect 65 or something like that. I believe Baby bargains gave Britax and A- and ours got a B because of its size.

You can actually use a Britax Convertible for babies 5lbs and up.
It isn't removable though like an infant seat - so you can't put it in your stroller and you have to remove the baby from it. An infant seat is a lot more convenient IMO.

If you get a Britax convertible it does not come out of the car that is why it is not compatible with the uppa baby vista. You would have to get the infant carseat (graco, perg preggo or there is another one that they sell the adaptor for). That car seat you only use for the first year or less depending on how quickly your DC grows.
I have the uppababy vista and love it.
