What is your DC eating/sleeping like?

DD is 4 1/2 months. She nurses about 5 times a day now. She takes 2-3 naps a day - 2 long ones and if she takes a third it's about a half hour around dinner time. She can go to sleep on her own - swaddled with music playing.

BUT nighttime is a nightmare! Last night she woke up 14 times. (I have started keeping a log to see if there is a rhyme or reason to it). I have to go in every time she wakes up to either pick her up for a burp, or put the binky in.

Maybe her naps are too long? Maybe i'm putting her to bed too early or too late? Maybe she is hungry? UGH!

Is 14 times her usual or was this a freak night?

Honestly maybe she is waking out of habit at this point? Cause I remember Julianna was already STTN at 3 months. The Dr. said she physically does not NEED to eat at that point.

Hmm, Im at a loss too... My only advice would be to pop in the binky each time and rub her back but DO NOT pick her up!

I think her nap schedule is completely normal though, My DD would also take three naps, two long and one short, totaling 4 hours a day in naps.

Chat Icon to you!! I hope it gets better soon, 14 times is rough!!

Yep, 14 times is the norm. I just never actually wrote it down to see what was happening....SOO frustrating since I KNOW she is capable of putting herself back to sleep since she goes to sleep on her own for naps and wakes during naps and goes back to sleep... and SOMETIMES wkaes at night and puts her self back to sleep.

My DS was nursing/taking pumped milk 5 times a day. We didn't start solids until almost 6 months. He took the same amount of naps as your LO. He also was mostly sleeping through the night.

IMO, I think maybe it's becoming habit now for your DD to wake up and have you come in. She is capable of putting herself to sleep since she does other times. She may be looking for the comfort and familiarity of you coming in to soothe her. Does she take a full nursing when you feed her at night? If so, perhaps she is ready for solids.
