Combined 1st & 4th B-day party themes (please humor me)
If you're bored....
Still toying with ideas, but here's what I have so far (again, will be a combined party for my 4-year-old and 1-year-old):
A) Carousel; my oldest daughter is OBSESSED with carousels, could work for a 1-year-old too though but I can't really find any cute decorations/paper goods/etc.
B) Cupcakes; another obsession of my oldest daughter's, and a cute theme. Would definitely work for 1-year-old too. Lots of supplies/decorations.
C) Butterflies; a cute theme, probably lots of decorations, nice & colorful, would work for 1-year-old too; could make them each a really cute & colorful butterfly cake (I make their cakes each year).
The party will be in our backyard, for about 40 people. I'm the type of person who likes to go all-out with a theme, so I need to find affordable things to go with the theme. Plus, I make the cake myself (and would really like to have a separate cake for each b-day girl) so I have to be realistic in what I can make (2 of  )
Oldest daughter is having a separate "kids party" too, which will be Olivia the Pig theme.
Previous themes have been puppies (2nd b-day), and rainbows (3rd b-day).
Which do you think? Any other ideas?

What about a whole "becoming a butterfly" type theme...
You could do inchworm (or catterpillar)for your 1 year old and butterfly for the 4 year old  ???

My sister is doing a joint 4th and 1st birthday party for my nephew and niece and doing Candyland theme.

I do like this idea....strangely though, I made an (awesome, if I do say ) caterpillar cake for my oldest's first b-day cake. That would be weird to do it again!

I am going to assume that C picked the Olivia theme for the kiddie party. If that is the case I would pick the theme you want most for M.
I like the cupcake and butterfly. I think the cupcake will be easier because of all the different size cupcake pans they have out now.

I LOVE the carousel theme and the cakes posted above would be SUPER easy to make two of. Just make a round cake, decorate as you like, and add the carousel above! Oriental trading has some stuff that would go well with this theme I think.

LOVE the carousel theme! You dont necessarily need carousel decorations! Get solid colored plates, napkins, etc. and have one of the many talented LIF girls design the other stuff for you (or diy)
I'm also doing a 1st & 4th combined party, but boy-girl. We're doing Candyland theme...Made everything myself!

carousel carousel!!!
there is a Carousel at the park by my house that has parties and I think I am going to do it for my son either this year or next.
I love the theme.
