Ear tube/Adenoid with a cold.. any experience? (sorry a bit long)

My son is going in for Ear Tube (second set) and adenoid removal tomorrow. We haven't been able to get him healthy for more than a few days since Christmas and he hasn't been off antibiotics for more than 2 weeks (that was the most.. other than that it was 3 days).

He has had a hearing loss, 3 ear infections, 3 strep throat and 1 pink eye and a stomach virus since Christmas.

Sooo tomorrow is the surgery. He is on antibiotics (very strong broad spectrum ones) for 6 days and during the pre-surg clearance the ped tells us he has an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection. But, it's not in his lungs. She still clears him because she says that she hasn't seen him healthier than this in months and he needs the surgery.. The question is.. will the anesthesiologist feel the same way?

Does anyone have any experience with bringing a kid in for surgery with a cold? Was it cancelled? Did they go ahead? If so, how bad was the cold?

His is really not too bad... But, he has been so sick in the past that my frame of reference is skewed. I reallllly need this surgery to happen. I can't see him sick like this anymore. Something has to give. Not too mention the days I have taken off to prepare him. I am literally almost taking days without pay. Chat Icon

Please keep my little guy in your prayers that he gets a bit better overnight and he is cleared for surgery, it goes well and he starts to feel better. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

No experience with this specifically, but have worked with anesthesiologists and they RARELY cancel.

Really? I am hoping. We had gone for a second opinoin with another ENT and he didn't like how he sounded on Thursday but, said that he would probably go ahead being that he just can't get any healthier than that. IMO.. that's why we are doing the surgery. Chat Icon
