EBF and night wakings (how to stop!)

My DD (7 months) still wakes up twice a night, on most nights, and I nurse her back to sleep. We've tried rocking her, but that usually doesn't work. I'd love to wean her from these feedings, but don't know how to go about it. She does sometimes skip one or both, so I know she CAN sleep through the night, but I worry that she's actually hungry at night and not just nursing for comfort. All of the advice I've read is for moms who bottle feed, so they can cut an ounce here and there, but what to do when EBF?

i reduce BF at night - i got a clock and set started only doing 8 minutes a side, then 6 minutes , and so forth till 2 - i would reduce every other night and then we went cold turkey - had trouble one night and the he was sleeping through the night - my dh was on the night i stopped BF at night - he soothed - he would have been on for 2 nights but my little guy slept through the night after 1 night - w used the pacifier to sooth

i have also heard of using a bottle filled with water

At one, she will be given strict rules.

No nursing between 10 PM and 5 AM.
that was the only way I got #1 to stop.

The first week is hell. you can hold them, rock them, sing to them....they are going to scream, hit and kick.

Then after that don't pick up, just pat and rub.

After that no touching.

mine was an addict. 3-4 times a night. totally worked after 3 long weeks.
