Those of us who are done after this pregnancy....

What form of birth control will you be using?

Believe it or not I contemplated getting my tubes tied during my c-section. But I feel I am just too young (27) for such a "final" procedure.

So back to the drawing board I go.

I do not want to have to take a pill daily. I did it for 10 years and hated every second of it.

I have been considering an IUD, but they still have hormones, and I'm just not sure if I want to go that route.

Condoms are not an option.

We managed to not get pregnant in between DS and this pregnancy with "pull and pray" but I can't take any chances. We definitely don't want 4 kids

What will you do/use?

Well, we aren't done after this baby, but DH and I have already discussed that when we ARE done, he will get a vasectomy. He actually suggested it and I wholeheartedly approve ... it's much less invasive than getting your tubes tied.

BCP was not an option for me because I was a monster on it, and condoms would be OK but we'd rather just go for the vasectomy.

I'm going to talk to my doctor about going on Mirena. We are 99% sure we don't want anymore kids (even though this one will be #1), but we want to wait a few years before doing anything permanent. After we are 100%, DH told me he'll get a vasectomy as he does not want me getting my tubes tied since it's a much more major procedure.

I am going to be 32 in July. I THINK I am going to have her tie my tubes when this ones is born via c-section in September. It scares me that it's final but I know in my heart of hearts that two is it for us....

I was using the mirena prior to DD and plan to get it again after . I'm 30 and not ready to do anything permanent. There is an IUD with no hormones. Talk to your Dr about it.

we're done after this baby and ive heard of essure which is almost like getting ur tubes tied but without the surgical procedure.. its not hormonal etc & its permanant.

I'm not done for sure after this but I do know that i wouldn't tie my tubes so young. Who knows if things chance later. Not to mention all the hormonal changes that the procedure comes with.
I think after the twins come I will use the pill. I was on it for years and years until i got married and it was fine for me. DH and I were never careful when I was on the pill and it worked for us for almost 10 years

I'm not sure. I had the paragard before I got pregnant and hated it (thats the IUD without hormones.) I'm going to ask about Mirena - even though it does have hormones it is different than the pill because the hormones stay in your uterus, they don't circulate around your body.

I am pg with my second and my DH's fourth!! We are DONE!! I had planned to go on Mirena. I had been on the pill 17 years, minus my two pgs. However, at a party recently, after DH had a few glasses of wine in him, he informed me that he will have a vasectomy after this child so I don't have to go back on the pill. I will have to talk to him more about this... I would much rather go that route...

I am in the same boat as you. DH and I both agreed that having my tubes tied at 31 doesn't make sense for us, it's just too final.

I was thinking about Mirena, not sure. Defintely don't want to go back on the pill.

I think it will be condoms for at least the short-term. Do you mind me asking why that isn't an option?

I'm 99% sure baby #2 will be my last. I would love for DH to get a vasectomy - never discussed it with him though.

We have not officially decided if I will get my tubes tied since this will be a scheduled C Section or if DH will get a vasectomy...but FOR SURE one of those will happen..I cannot live on BCP and Im DONE!

if for some reason i need a c-sec, i would like my tubes tied. (i'll only be 28, but we definitely only want 2 children)

if i deliver vaginally again, i'll opt for an IUD.

I've always wanted 4 kids and DH agreed, but now that we're having our 2nd he just wants to survive having 2 girls

Once we decided we're done he'll be getting a vasectomy since I've already been off BC for 5 years, I def. have no plan to go back on it.

I'll probably be getting my tubes tied after my c-section. DH and I discussed and we decided after my 2nd pregnancy I would get my tubes tied.

If I need a c-section then I will get my tubes tied. Otherwise I will be looking into the essure procedure.

We are done after this baby so my DH will be going for a vasectomy. By his choice. I am a little sad about even tho I know we can't afford anymore kids.

I was planning on tieing my tubes too but also got nervous about how final that would be. Also I am a baby who came years after the family was "complete" so I have learned that never say never is the best policy! And this is only #2 for us.

Anyway I think I am going to do paraguard (no hormones ) IUD for a few years and then if we really feel done (when I am about 35 ish - I am 32 now) I will look into essure (more perm solution but not surgical)

I am 27 too and although we are happy with 2, you never know if you might just want another. I only have a few options with my family history...IUD or Aviane bcp, i think i will be going back to Aviane, it's the safest route for me.

Its not an option because I find them to be a total PITA, mood killer, etc. I haven't had sex with a condom in well over 10 years and I'm not about to start now

we were only planning on having two and now we will hae 3 so we are defintely done - once we know the babies are healthy - DH will get a vasectomy. I thought about getting my tubes tied if i have a scheduled C but i think there are too many side effects to do that - his turn to take care of birth control

well, we're PROBABLY done after this one, but I still don't want to do anything too permanent. I don't really want to go on the pill again. I want to look into mirena, but honestly haven't really thought about or looked into all my options yet. I'll talk to my doc when the time comes.
